Portfolio was the only range that ever suited me, but they ended it about 3 or 4 years ago. I think it was aimed at business women who didn't only wear black & navy - not sure.

I still pick up some really good quality Portfolio bits and pieces off ebay, it was a good range, quite 'normal' but with a bit of edge. I'm not explaining it well....
I like Autograph as well.

Portfolio was, I think, supposed to be the 45-60 range - for those women too old for Limited Collection & Per Una's cutting-edge, fashion-forward stylings, yet too young for Classic Collection's World of Elastication. The launch collection was actually fab - great wrap dresses, flattering trousers, decent quality fabrics and attractive prints. I bought quite a few pieces, despite being about 35 at the time. Portfolio lingerie was good too.

And then, like all great M&S ranges, whoever they'd paid a fortune to launch it moved on, and it went very meh, and then was quietly dropped. I might be remembering it with rose-tinted specs, but if they'd managed to keep Portfolio going, I'd still be spending a fair bit of my wardrobe money there twice a year.

Yes Portfolio have long been discontinued in some 'rationalisation' of M and S brands. Ditto Autograph Weekend which did have some decent basics.

My dad used to call me Max Wall in the early 80s when I was in my leggings and flat cap phase.
