Does anyone else have just 2modes of dress sense?

I can do smart for work/going out and snobby (around the house), but really can't do in between, I.e. smart casual or normal-neat. Does anyone else have this odd fashion sense, and if so how do you rectify it?

Disclaimer: my world prior to DC was work, now its house& toddler groups, hence the two dress modes. I just seem to 'mothball' all smart items for when I go back to work, but inevitably end up wearing a few bits for when I need to go out somewhere where grown ups are in the majority number. This leads to me looking like an overdressed Christmas tree or a slob.

I was very impressed for a minute there!

I live in jeans and tops, then fancy for the rare night out. I have some dressy/casual clothes but they're never out if the wardrobes.

I am either "on" or "off", no middle ground. On is the same with different actual clothes for work/not work, so dresses with opaques and brogues, skinny jeans with nice top and brogues or Chelsea boots, always red lipstick. Off is pyjama type clothes, which I don't sleep in but put on pretty much as soon as I get in. I am currently wearing some v attractive leopard print Primark numbers and it's after 3pm. (My partner is a lucky, lucky man!)

My big problem is 90% of my time is doing stuff that 1 and 2 fit ... but most of my wardrobe upstairs and make up is the third! I blame pinterest.

A good tip is jersey dresses and skirts - they feel like tshirts but look much smarter.

Yep I'm either in slobby everyday gardening/cooking/kids clothes or I look like I'm going out for dinner or to an interview.

I simply can't do casual. I try but I even manage to make jeans look posh.

It's a running joke with my friends that jelly simply can't do a pub outfit

I used to be a kitchen showroom manager so work wear was full business suits, heels etc

Home is skinny jeans and a hoody or pj bottoms and a hoody if i'm not going out

I'm now half way through training as a primary teacher and when I'm in school I'm constantly being asked if I'm being observed or if I have an interview -I have no idea how to tone my workwear down!

I can do "work", I can do "casual", (and I can most certainly do "slob") but I am rubbish at smart/going-out/wedding/party wear.

I never seem to have the right clothes or shoes, and everyone else seems to have got the look right, and I haven't.

Emo the foot pain will have those heels eventually she says from bitter experience I was like you and now I own (gasp) corduroy blazers and (double gasp) brogues for work.

that's it coin, I always feel and look like I didn't get the memo. I turn up to Rhyme time looking and feeling either underdressed or overdressed, then go to meet old colleagues and feel like i've stepped out of a time warp. My go to clothes are jeans and a t-shirt, but recently I heard two neighbours saying "did you think that Tea was a such and such? you could never tell!' as I was scurrying everything into the car one morning, and I thought, hmmm I probably don't look at all convincing as a professional in my slobby home clothes

I'm smart for work-easy.
Casual at weekends including going out which is mostly to watch bands, drink with friends, meal with family/dh - no problem.
Odd posh event- OK I have 2 dresses, jackets, nice shoes etc.
I can't seem to do in between the last two. I'm always stumped. I don't want to be over or underdressed or look like I'm going to work. I've always thought it just doesn't exist for my style.

I'm always in pj bottoms and hoodies at home too!

I tend to find that my 'everyday work', and 'smart casual' overlaps a lot just with different make up and shoes. I wear navy trousers a lot for work so that the same top can be worn at the weekend with jeans.

Problem comes if i'm ever socialising with collegues then i realise i have no clothes!

I have 3:

Scruffy/casual/quirky – for everyday, working (work at home), school pickups, shops, nights out, holidays etc.

Posh - for weddings, work meetings, funerals – but this is once in a blue moon and even then posh shoes elude me. I have v big, wide feet and just can't get "ladylike" women's shoes I like, so it's usually boots or sandals.

Lounge - PJs and cardigans, for evenings in.

I have so little occasion to do "smart casual", I've never bothered with it. Not even really sure what it would look like on me.

I really only do casual.
I've never had a job that required any other than a uniform.
I never really go out to places that have dress codes.
My DH works from home and had customers coming to the house so I can't quite turn into total slob

Okay so I am sat here in sports bra, knickers and work boots wondering what to put on.
I can do scruff and to stop myself going to meet DP and Ds and Dp's relatives in ultra scruff, I have taken my 15 year old Baden Powell style shorts off and put them in the washing machine.
I'm now stumped.

I have a horrible idea this is why Boden was invented.
