Fake Tan recommendations please

We're going on holiday - Smile
But it looks like it's going to p*ss down all week Sad

So no chance of tanning my raddled old carcass.
I'm prepared to fake it though (not going down the sunbed route)

I've been using a Gatineau Tan Accelerator in the vain hope of sun, so I'll put that away till next year (alongside my suntan lotion I reckon)

I can get to Tesco tomorrow. Is their own brand okay?
Or is there anything else I should thing of ( non animal tested please)

TIA.

I used the St tropez in shower tan for a week everyday and it turned me a lovely gentle colour . Not a streak or smell to be found !

RavioliOnToast · 20/08/2015 21:38

St moritz medium mousse is absolutely amazing. not sure about the animal testing though.

apply with a tanning mit over a latex glove to make sure it doesn't go on fingers

Hezaire · 20/08/2015 21:41

Another vote for the St tropez shower thing

lucysmam · 20/08/2015 22:41

I use the same one as Ravioli after it was recommended both here and by a friend's teenage ddGrin

ClareDeLune · 20/08/2015 22:43

Cocoa Brown with tanning mitt. I use the day/night one.

ColdSancerre · 20/08/2015 22:44

How does the in shower thing work? Is it gradual/OK for lighter skin tones? I'm off on hols next week and I just want some colour on my legs so as not to blind the locals. But I'm hopeless at applying self tan.

Hezaire · 20/08/2015 22:47

Yes great for pale people.
Shower as normal.
Turn shower off.
Rub tan on.
Wait 3 mins.
Wash off
Pat dry

It's gradual so takes maybe 2 days worth to make a difference

ColdSancerre · 20/08/2015 22:49

And not streaky? You promise?

Exfoliation required?

KatyPeary · 20/08/2015 22:52

Cocoa brown. Foolproof.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 20/08/2015 22:53

St Moritz is good, and has never streaked for me (and I use it for dance comps so I go dark).

Hezaire · 20/08/2015 22:56

No streaky. Honestly I was impressed. And I am crap at fake tan. Really crap. Used it for a recent wedding . Got away with it I think

Hezaire · 20/08/2015 22:57

Although if it's just your legs you're bothered about. I had this spray , think it's called air brush legs. Amazing and cheap I think. That might be better.
It's a little spray

bluebump · 20/08/2015 23:07

This is the first year in ages i've been without my Gatineau Tan Accelerator but given the weather I've saved myself some money this year!

I've been using the Palmers Cocoa Butter tanning moisturiser, it smells of the normal Palmers so you have to like this but considering it's a moisturiser one it goes a good colour after a couple of goes. Failing that, St Moritz is fab and Tesco do sell it (although it's cheaper in B&M, or Poundstretcher if you see either of those!)

lucysmam · 20/08/2015 23:07

I tried a spray before the St. Moritz one...there was more on the bath/loo/shower curtain/sink (that was behind me Hmm ) than actually made it onto my legs!

Do they still do those self tan wipes? I used to use those years ago before a night out.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/08/2015 11:02

St Tropez shower might tick the boxes.

Non animal tested according to their website Smile

Not my shower I'll be using so I don't need to worry so much (though obviously I don't want to look like I've done a dirty protest Blush )

Off to search............

Thanks

Palmers cocao butter one. Foolproof and good on my pasty limbs. It was on offer at boots a few weeks ago, £3 I think.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/08/2015 15:11

I did a last minute petrol/beer/bread dash to Tesco and they didn't have the shower in one so I bought a tube of St Tropez gradual tan in light/medium and a mitt.

I have a Leighton Denny Sunbelievable mousse but I tried it on DD yesterday. The mousse is khaki "like foamy cow poo" she said and the colour was odd. , though I've had it since last year so it might have gone a bit manky.................

So I'm giving this St Tropez a try. Smile

another for Cocoa Brown here. Non streaky and three hours is the longest it takes to develop I think.

BlondeAmbition13 · 21/08/2015 16:40

St Tropez is a sure fire winner for me having tried every fake tan ever. ever! The mousse applies brilliantly but you do need to leave it on for a good few hours to work properly, the daily moisturiser is brilliant too. It soaks in quickly and has barely any smell which I love.

Bit more of a bargain are the St Moritz and Dove tanners, cons of Dove though are that it tends to sit on the skin rather than sink in - but it leaves you lovely and shimmery - gotta choose your battles! Enjoy your holiday! Wine
