Decent pack a mac

I need a mac to keep in my bag. It needs to pack down small, be lightweight, actually waterproof and breathable and be a little bit interesting (ie not like the navy cagoule my mum made me wear at school). I used to have a Regatta one but it was crap at keeping me dry, made me sweaty and was a bit short. I have looked at TargetDry and Joules which are both around the sane sort of £20-30 bracket but I'm not sure whether they actually do what they are supposed to. I have a Seasalt raincoat well two actually and a Boden rainy day mac... but want something much lighter to stuff in my bag.

Can anyone recommend please?

Mine is from Lidl. so perhaps not very stylish.

Packs down small though, and does the job - I keep it in my bag most days.

Not a pack a mac but a poncho - not sure how unstylish that is tbh - I keep one in each car.

Nicely made and has stood up to mine and DD's wear. Packs down to nothing, I keep it in the very small space leftover in each glove box.

Apologies if the thought of a poncho brings you out in a rash!! First bought for proms in the park and I liked them.

I got a cath kidston one if that's not too uncool

I have this. It's relatively waterproof and packs down small. It's my holiday raincoat.

I am not the right shape for a poncho!! I like the ones with a waist drawstring, they tend to be a bit longer too. Hadn't thought to look at CK, is yours actually waterproof and non sweaty Hazare?

Hmmm an obvious question I should be able to answer.....
Yea pretty sure it's waterproof although couldn't tell you what material it's made from.
It's maybe 3 years old so whether they'll still do them.

It at least looks nice. Which is the most important thing, isn't it? Grin

Many of the garments mentioned are only showerproof op.
If you actually want waterproof try an outdoor shop. Depending on budget and trendiness Cotswold are good and sports direct ( if it doesn't bring you out in hives just being there) sometimes have karrimor bargains. If you want waterproof you want taped Seams as a minimum really.

mid thigh one, on sale

HerRoyalNotness · 21/08/2015 00:55

rain mac, says it's packable but doesn't mention a sac

I got a Joules one today as our local shop was doing 30% off. Says its waterproof (rather than showerproof) and breathable. Has taped seams, is thigh length and has a waist elastic. And it's bright pink with flowers on. Happy pigeon. Thanks all.

We were recently doing some more Shaun the sheep trail in Bristol and it started light raining/drizzle. I tried on the bright pink one mentioned above in Joules. Went into Primark (we don't have one so always a guilty pleasure if we come to Bristol Smile) very similar one for £9. Have worn it fair bit this 'summer' and everyone asks about it (even had lady stop me to ask where it was from) Friend asked and I said Joules and when it arrived she said it was different so I confessed ????
