Personal shopper for skincare?

I'm nspired by the thread about turning 40. I'm rubbish at sticking to a skincare routine but intend to turn over a new leaf! But I don't know what to use. Very confused about how serums etc fit in to a routine! I used the Clinique 3 step routine for years, then switched to Liz Earle purely because I was a bit bored! What I need is someone to look at my skin and tell me what I need. I'm sure I need to use different brands for different purposes but am a bit overwhelmed when I go into a beauty department - and of course every counter is trying to sell their own product. Is there such a thing as a personal shopper for skincare - someone who is not employed by one brand??

Rose Gallagher is a beauty personal shopper at Birmingham Selfridges. She isn't affiliated to any brand at all.

Is there a specific problem you want to address? Skincare is such a personal thing isn't it? It's a lot about smell and texture as well as results for me.

Serums are just very active ingredients and go on after toning and before moisturisers. They're spendy because they have lots of actives.

I like the idea of a personal skincare shopper!

Have you got a spacenk near to you? Worth asking in there as they stock quite a few skincare brands and some of the assistants really know their stuff. I've been in for a session before when they launched a new range and it was brilliant, walked away with lots of advice and samples of different stuff- loads of which worked wonders for my skin and I went back and purchased full size.

Hi sorry for the late replies - I've had problems logging in!
I'm not trying to sort anything specific. I'm lucky that my skin is pretty good other than a bit of dryness. It's more about keeping it good and delaying any ageing signs. I feel like I SHOULD be doing something or I will regret it in a few years.
I had wondered about spacenk - there is one I could get to. I don't recognise any of the brands but maybe that's a good thing?

Thanks for the advice.
