Just watched this video, my personal favourites are the 50s and 60s.

I'm with you

Hellionandfriends · 14/08/2015 23:11

70s also

polyhymnia · 14/08/2015 23:53

60s!

dontcallmelen · 15/08/2015 00:02

Yy 50's & 60's especially the fitted dresses swing coats, & fabulous shoes/handbags.

FrugalFashionista · 15/08/2015 07:39

I love 1950s and 1960s as well. The current 1970s wave is not offering much for me, I just look scruffy in most of those clothes and I don't do browns. 1960s is my favorite period, the clean lines fit my shape so well. An A line mini dress in a relatively stiff fabric is the easiest thing out there for me to wear.

Doobigetta · 15/08/2015 10:27

The 80s one looked massively OTT to me, and not how real people actually dressed. But I was a child in the 80s, and the 1995 and 2005 ones look authentic enough and close enough to what I would have worn at the time, so maybe I'm wrong.

PetiteBateau · 15/08/2015 12:47

1930's

Vintagebeads · 15/08/2015 17:31

30s too ! I was born in the wrong era, love all the beading&dropped waists.

PetiteBateau · 15/08/2015 20:14

Me too. I wish I would suit a bob like lucy worsley

knackeredknitter · 15/08/2015 22:44

The 50s was my definitely my favourite.
I also did not dress like that in the 80, I was more of a goth and wore dm's right through the 90's aswell. In 2005 I did wear a lot of bootcut and flares I think. What every happened to all the skinny jeans, totally missed out..

bigTillyMint · 15/08/2015 22:52

50s and 60s for me too. Since I was a small girl watching the old movies I have wished I was born into an era where women wore swishy, glamorous dresses. The evening dresses were to die for Envy

amarmai · 16/08/2015 01:28

love the 40s- made a vintage vogue summer dress in that style .

MitzyLeFrouf · 16/08/2015 01:31

I'm going to say 1930s and 1960s.

Not a massive fan of the 1950s, that may be because it's been over-revived in recent years (in my opinion). Hate that Viven of Holloway look.

Dowser · 16/08/2015 10:13

For me personally, it's been the last ten years where aged 53-63 I've had a blast with fashion and I've loved every minute of it.
I know what I like. I work with what I've got. I like to look smart and well groomed even if Im just going ( more) shopping or into town to pay a few bills.

I don't do casual or trousers. A dress I wore yesterday got complimented on by two people . Even if they were just being nice it gave me a boost.

Historically I think Hollywood fashion of the 40 s and 50s was very elegant.

squizita · 16/08/2015 15:54

60s and good 70s. I mean 30s revival, Stevie Nicks, London Boutique scene, high disco/glam, Gucci and women's tailoring type 70s rather than Bay City Rollers and novelty flares. Grin

Such a shame it's associated with sweaty polyester and bad shiny face make up. The truly good stuff is dazzling.

Hate hate hate the fake "foufties" look where idiots put bad 50s repro with 40s hair and call it vintage.
At events you see actual 50s or 40s enthusiasts (or proper rockabilly repro wearers) walk past and the contrast between them and the wannabes is marked.

I like the 20s but can't wear the most iconic styles due to my bust. There are 20s styles with a gentle waist and PJ styles of course. Shame as the hair and make up suits me.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/08/2015 16:50

1980s (but I never wore anything like that minging blue dress.....)

I love the 80s, I was a skinny teen , I had perfect 80s hair (like him from The Thompson Twins but tidier I thought, though in retrospect more like Rik from The Young Ones Blush ) , perfect size 8 figure, perfect cheekbones.

And of course I didn't appreciate it all.

If the 70s are back, it is only a matter of timetill the 80s roll round again.

MsBojangles · 16/08/2015 19:01

The sexy, polished, not polyester, 70s take some beating. It was glam but effortlessly so.

MitzyLeFrouf · 16/08/2015 19:03

I think of Lauren Hutton when I think of the stylish side of the 70s

MsBojangles · 16/08/2015 20:07

Yes, all touseled and tanned.

Best decade for fashion
squigglehead · 16/08/2015 20:37

From that video I absolutely love the 90s! And 2015, but that's because that's how I dress at the moment which I obviously wouldn't do if I didn't like it... Blush

Kennington · 16/08/2015 22:39

Which decade invented skinny jeans and lots of black? That one!

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 16/08/2015 23:51

Definitely the 40's
Elegant
Pretty
Feminine.

amarmai · 17/08/2015 00:54
