When I say style, I mean it quite loosely. So, for instance, I would happily include Liz Hurley on the basis that she is still in v. v. good nick even though I am less sure about the clothing sometimes. Nigella puts a smile on my face quite often - gorgeous in her 50s. Halle Berry is up there too. What I am keen for is people's top choices in terms of style too. Want clothing inspiration that is age appropriate (to the extent that that matters), but still on trend. Not quite ready to embrace comfy slacks and fleeces yet, but suspect my days of trotting about on Christian Louboutin heels are far behind me too…..

Julianne Moore

MoreCrackThanHarlem · 14/08/2015 10:02

I'm 36 and shop mainly in Topshop
Is this still OK?
I think KM looks good

Floisme · 14/08/2015 10:33

Sorry Notdeadyet I don't know why I picked out your post on Kate Moss Blush I was objecting more to some of the comments from other posters, particularly 'old and lived in' with its allusion to her sexuality. Unpleasant and uncalled for.

Another vote for Christine Lagarde
And Yasmin Le Bon
Kate Moss not ageing well -
ANd Nicola Sturgeon - well the surname says it all!

NeverNic · 14/08/2015 10:49

For a curvy lady whose a bit older than 50, I'd say Kris jenner. Yes she's had work and occasionally dresses too young but more often than not she gets it right with tailoring and appropriate length skirts. She dresses her boobs well

hippospot · 14/08/2015 10:53

Haven't read whole thread.
Has anyone mentioned Kristin Scott-Thomas?

Awholelottanosy · 14/08/2015 12:32

Personally I think Madonna still looks amazing! I notice no one has mentioned her...

TychosNose · 14/08/2015 12:53

Marisa tomai is amazing (but add her to the list of an achievable figures)

TychosNose · 14/08/2015 12:54

Unachievable

Floisme · 14/08/2015 14:13

nosey I have a massive soft spot for Madonna and love it that she can still get under people's skin after all these years. However I don't particularly like her style at the moment and think she's had a bit too much work done for my personal taste.

Uptoyounow · 14/08/2015 14:20

These people are all so emaciated thin!

lurkingaround · 14/08/2015 14:33

Christine lagarde is gorgeous. She kind of exudes an air of 'I am a grown up, I'm good at my job but have no need to shout about it, what I wear is none of anyone's business but my own' huge confidence without the ego. God she's great.
Also love queen Letizia. Love her. She is loads a little thinner than I am but I just love what she wears.

From Hollywood I like Jennifer Aniston, and (sort of American) Elle McPherson. I know they've had work, but I love the relaxed way they dress.

Annarose2014 · 14/08/2015 15:24

Viola Davis. The only good thing about the dreariness that was How To Get Away with Murder was drooling at her clothes.

And for fancy wear for curvier ladies no-one can beat Marie-Theresa of Luxembourg. She's got a whole wardrobe of gorgeous Elie Saab confections and she really knows what suits her figure.

Frostycake · 14/08/2015 16:04

Not Nichola Sturgeon. She looks child-like and her clothes overpower her. You see them before you see her. She has helmet hair too. She has been over-styled since being thrust into the limelight.

Agree that Kate Moss isn't the fashion forward icon she used to be either. You need youth if not beauty to pull off the scruffy / can't be arsed look.

I agree with monica bellucci; Cate Blanchet, Sharon Stone, the woman who played Gro as above, Brook shields, Margaret Pomeranz, Sarah Jessica Parker, Inga Eiriksdottir, Mariella Frostrup, Jeniffer Aniston, Jennifer Hawkins.

howtorebuild · 14/08/2015 16:15

I think Carole Middleton looks well dressed.

Floisme · 14/08/2015 16:51

Maybe I've missed some photos but it's several years since I can remember Mossy dressing scruffily. In all the pics I've seen in the last year or so she's been wearing jeans, shirt and jacket and looking very pulled together (even while being escorted off aeroplanes).

polyhymnia · 14/08/2015 17:21

Carole Middleton isn't my taste at all even if she's close to my age, but I must give her credit for working hard at her look.

My favourites are like many others: Christine Lagarde (her intelligence is far more attractive to me than C Middleton's rather Stepford look - though I do know the latter at least had a job if not such a high powered one - Juliannne Moore, Julianna Margulies, Robin Wright, Trina Drynholm (so.? - plays Gro), Robin Wright as Clare Underwood, and Jane Birkin. And Monica Belluci.

K Scott Thomas also sickeningly stunning - those cheekbones!

Callycatsy · 14/08/2015 17:24

floisme I mentioned 'old and lived in'. As for alluding to anything, KM's sexuality never once occurred to me and I'm confused as to why you made that assumption. I simply meant old as in she's older and lived in as in well lived. Mick Jagger has the same look.

Maybe I should have said haggard. I'm not sure what the politically correct term is. Jeez. Talk about taking offence when none is intentioned.

I don't share your gutter mind obviously!

Floisme · 14/08/2015 17:30

Ok.

Floisme · 14/08/2015 17:33

Sorry, pressed 'post' too early. My apologies in that case, Cally.

polyhymnia · 14/08/2015 17:53

Actually, if we're thinking of royals and of over 60s I think Camilla is someone who, from very unpromising beginnings, has really found a style that flatters her and she's comfortable with and she's comfortable with and that she exudes more genuine warmth than Mrs Middleton.

But I don't think I exactly aspire to her style, as with my earlier nominees!

Callycatsy · 14/08/2015 17:54

Thank you floisme

stevienickstophat · 14/08/2015 17:58

Oh, I want to look like Sophie Marceau, I really, really do.

But I look like a tall Nicola Sturgeon.

I'm depressed now.

Sad
polyhymnia · 14/08/2015 22:37

Yes Sophie Marceau also fab.
