When I say style, I mean it quite loosely. So, for instance, I would happily include Liz Hurley on the basis that she is still in v. v. good nick even though I am less sure about the clothing sometimes. Nigella puts a smile on my face quite often - gorgeous in her 50s. Halle Berry is up there too. What I am keen for is people's top choices in terms of style too. Want clothing inspiration that is age appropriate (to the extent that that matters), but still on trend. Not quite ready to embrace comfy slacks and fleeces yet, but suspect my days of trotting about on Christian Louboutin heels are far behind me too…..

Agree she is very sexy Italian babe rather than natural chic. Love Ines too, but rake thin figure essential for that look IMO.

Definitely sexy. I can't do sexy so I'll stick with natural!

Annarose2014 · 13/08/2015 17:29

Crown Princess Mary of Denmark

Mind you she might be too young as I think she's only early forties, if that. But I just loooove the way she throws seperates together. She really nails smart casual.

I disagree about Angela Ripon, I always think she looks awful! I like her, it's just her clothes/hair don't like.
I like Inès and Julia Roberts.

desperatehousewife21 · 13/08/2015 17:37

I don't know her exact age but I'd say 50s and this is only relevant if you've seen Gogglebox but Steph who is the 'posh' couple who own the b&b. Love her style and I'm 25 Grin

I read in one of the papers an article about 'midlife' fashion (referring to women in their 50s etc.)

the term 'midlife' fashion makes me want to heave - whoever came up with that

foxinsocks · 13/08/2015 17:40

I loved the woman in The Legacy, Gro. I absolutely loved her style

Katsite · 13/08/2015 17:41

Tilda Swinton

absolutelynotfabulous · 13/08/2015 17:44

My favourite older ie 50ish woman is......TV Weatherwoman Carol Kirkwood. She's fab-funny and stylish, but still "normal".

absolutelynotfabulous · 13/08/2015 17:52

........and mustn't forget Sharon Stone. Still fab at 57.

BoskyCat · 13/08/2015 18:00

Oh yes Gro Gronnegaard. I want her hair! And her knitwear.

Love checking out where Kirsty Wark has been shopping when I watch Newsnight.

Jane Birkin but she's older, but has always had the same style which inspires me.

foxinsocks · 13/08/2015 18:10

yes I loved Gro's knitwear and her suits. I don't know how she made a plain navy suit look so beautiful stylish but she did (I suspect it's the shape of her body - she didn't have as many lumps as me ;) )

NotdeadyetBOING · 13/08/2015 18:14

When is The Legacy coming back? I loved it….

I find Tilda Swinton rather sexless (realise this is an unpopular view). Cate Blanchet is another contender, though….

Kirsty Young

I also think (proabaly in a minority) that Lorraine Kelly has improved with age - largely down to a decent haircut!

BoboChic · 13/08/2015 18:16

Sophie Marceau
Juliette Binoche

Nepotism · 13/08/2015 18:22

Kristin Scott-Thomas

MotherOfMinions · 13/08/2015 18:24

Rachel Weiss
Cate Blanchett
Francesca Annis

Definitely not Kate Moss

RandomFriend · 13/08/2015 18:28

Nicola Sturgeon. She looks so professional and competent.

foxinsocks · 13/08/2015 18:35

I know she's older but I always think Helen Mirren looks lovely

NotdeadyetBOING · 13/08/2015 18:35

Have to disagree on Nicola S. LOVE her as a politician and think she leaves her male colleagues in the shade, but don't envy her looks/style.

No to Kate Moss and Nicola Sturgeon. NS looks so preened and uncomfortable and KM looks old and lived in.

Sophie Marceau yes yes yes. Gorgeous.

Callycatsy · 13/08/2015 19:52

Charlotte Rampling was an absolute babe but seeing her in Broadchurch made me feel 110.

pilates · 13/08/2015 19:54

Nicola Sturgeon? What?
