I don't own anything I 'love'

Nothing sparks joy. Certainly I like the fit of certain things and maybe the colour but I've never found anything that I can't live without. Is it just me?

Like Judy, I have lots of items that are quite plain but spark joy - jeans that are super soft from repeated washing, a chambray shirt that is just the right blue, an anthracite gray sweatshirt that I bought in on a wonderful trip - each item is joyful because it serves its purpose perfectly or reminds me of a certain place or person.

H&M have really upped their sportswear, not very different from what you'd find at Lululemon or Sweaty Betty, worth a look!

This thread is reminding me of something I read somewhere (this was it), that "spark joy" is possibly a misleading translation, and that "sparking a connection" with the item is perhaps more accurate. So you don't have to be feeling thrills and bliss with every item if you're Kondo-ing, but you should be looking for that sense of 'connecting' with the item. If that makes any more sense? Grin It makes it easier to see the value in the functional items, I guess.

The trouble is, I never know when I buy something whether or not I'll end up loving it.

I can tell whether it suits me / goes with stuff I already own / fills a gap etc etc but love takes time to grow and is unpredictable. A couple of my very favourite things at the moment are from H&M while some supposed 'investment buys' now leave me cold.

Yes frugal I wear sports stuff every day at some point and I have things from H& M, Tesco, Marks etc that are great and not at all expensive.
