I can recommend Hot Cloth Cleansing

Aquamarine70 · 12/08/2015 13:14

I am a beauty therapist &! had always used a milk cleanser, & toner & removed with damp cotton wool pads. My skin has gone really sensitive and I was breaking out along my jawline & around the hairline. I bought the Sanctuary Hot Cloth Cleanser & I really like it. I use ordinary flannels & heat them in the microwave. My skin feels really clean and the flannel gently exfoliates. I spritz after with rose water toner then use serum & nightcream. My skin feels really smooth.

I'll add to that too aqua. I'm a bt too and used the same as you. Despite having hideous spots on my chin due to change in contraception my cheeks feel like a baby's bum!!

I'm using super drug vitamin e hot cloth. Love, love, love it!!

Aquamarine70 · 12/08/2015 13:55

I like the feel of the hot flannel as my skin feels so clean. I'm 45 now so my skin must have changed. I can't use harsh exfoliaters or any glycolic or AHA's. I seem to react to alcohol & silicones as well.
I am in Australia so I can't get the Superdrug one but I've heard good things about it. We have The Sanctuary range here. I'd like to try Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish. I might see if my mil can bring me some. Do they sell it in Boots?

I don't think they sell LE in Boots. It is in some JL though.

There are lots of great products suitable for HCC though. As well as those mentioned I love Clinique's Take the Day off Balm and the two BS chamomile ones.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 12/08/2015 15:11

You can get LE online or in John Lewis.

It's not as nice as it used to be though. My favourite "posh" hot cloth cleanser is Elemis Neroli and Bergamot one, so creamy and smells fab. Often on QVC in a gift set so £££s cheaper than if you bought it separately.

People on here have raved recently about the Body Shop Chamomile Butter balm, I am aiming to try that next. Boots Botanics balm is lovely, but I prefer that in summer when it melts easier into your skin.

The Superdrug ones that everyone raves about on here (IMO) are not very nice. I had heard that the Radiant something or other was a dupe for LE. It isn't, no way. It smells cheap and has one of those fake scents, and I found it quite drying. The other one is Vitamin E, but I have tried other stuff in their Vit E range and again, it is very perfumed and the fragrance doesn't seem natural.

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowIt · 12/08/2015 17:41

I used LE for years. Saw no difference to my skin when I tried Superdrug.

I prefer the BS ones and the Clinique one to both.

BiscuitMillionaire · 12/08/2015 17:46

I got the Neals Yard Wild Rose Beauty Balm, as a treat to myself - expensive but lovely, and I think it will last a long time. It came with a muslin included.

Fireandicicles · 12/08/2015 19:02

You can buy the Liz Earle range in the larger boots now.

montserratSang · 12/08/2015 19:31

You can order anything from boots online for in store delivery. We have a little boots local two minutes walk away and I order everything to it.

Aquamarine70 · 13/08/2015 04:38

Thanks everyone. I'll see if I can get a sample of Clinique's one. I had a sample of the Body Shops's one but it seemed to burn my cheeks & I didn't really like the really greasy feel of it. I must have been reacting to something in it. Even their Aloe Vera cleanser burns my skin.

Cliniques Take The Day Off balm is fab. I really like the superdrug naturally radiant cleanser - and at £3 a pop, it's a bargain too. Price up a little and my favourite is Emma Hardies Moringa balm. Smells amazeballs too.

Dellabob123 · 13/08/2015 11:08

I've converted to the Elemis collagen balm. Its £££ but absolutely amazing and I have sensitive/reactive skin, so I'm sticking with it!

Aquamarine70 · 13/08/2015 14:30

I'll have a look at the Elemis one thanks.

I love hot cloth cleansing too but I think it's the cloth that makes the difference, more than the cleanser. I just use aqueous cream and have never had better skin.

That said, LE was horrid for me. I've always been prone to spots (not now!) but LE brought me out in big painful lumps.

BeautifulBatman · 13/08/2015 15:26

Maximise I don't think you're alone there, I've seen many reviews stating that LE has done the same to many users. I won't touch it for that reason.

Groovee · 13/08/2015 15:28

Would this be good for a 15 year old? Dd is having acne treatment but the Dr recommended a good exfoliater to try and shift the black heads which are not clearing.

CloserToFiftyThanTwenty · 13/08/2015 15:29

Hot cloth cleansing is just removing cleanser with a warm flannel or muslin, right? (Or is there something I'm missing..?)

BeautifulBatman · 13/08/2015 15:31

Spot on Closer

BeautifulBatman · 13/08/2015 15:34

Groovee what's the routine at the moment?

YetAnotherUserName · 13/08/2015 15:35

I'm an Eve Lom devotee, haven't bothered with any others because this one is so good. One of my few repeat purchases, year on year.

Groovee, I would let my teen use my Eve Lom, so try a hot cloth cleanser. I think it's also the muslin cloth that makes a difference - just make sure she's not too rough with it so it won't hurt (done it to myself when I've been over zealous with the scrubbing, ouch)

trevortrevorslatterfry · 13/08/2015 15:36

Ooh i'm glad to see this thread. I am using the Superdrug one and I really like it.

I read on another thread (the grey hair one) about using hot cloth cleanser but then moisturising with oil.. does anyone have any advice about that please?

I am prone to spots on my jawline and chin and at present I don't put anything apart from aloe vera gel on my face as otherwise I get awful breakouts. It's not very long-lasting moisture though and I'm not getting any younger so wanted something a bit more nourishing that won't make my skin terrible! I am on a budget too though Sad

Sorry for hijack!

SlinkyB · 13/08/2015 15:39

How long do you microwave your flannels for OP? Never thought of doing that, and it takes aaaaaages for our hot water to get properly hot so would save time and water if I did that.

Only ever tried Superdrug Vit E and like it, when I remember to do it.

Do people hot cloth cleanse every day?

mimiasovitch · 13/08/2015 15:42

I love the superdrug one. I think I've got the radiant one. Soap and glory Ultimelt is lovely too. I've used LE and sanctuary, but both smell too strong for me.

Groovee · 13/08/2015 15:49

She uses a hypoallergenic soap on her face. But her back has a load of blackheads which aren't shifting with the gel they have given her. They're really noticeable so she's careful about what tops to wear now.

BeautifulBatman · 13/08/2015 15:58

Quit the soap. Try hot cloth cleansing with some organic coconut oil. Then use a toner pad like Clearasil Berry extract. Oils do not need to be avoided. Maybe try BodyShop vit e serum oil, and their daytime vit e moisturiser. Also try taking fish oil supplements - Lamberts 1100mg are great.

Groovee · 13/08/2015 16:00

Oh she also uses some sort of liquid like a cleanser on her face too which has really cleared things. Her back is the main problem now though x
