I can recommend Hot Cloth Cleansing

I am a beauty therapist &! had always used a milk cleanser, & toner & removed with damp cotton wool pads. My skin has gone really sensitive and I was breaking out along my jawline & around the hairline. I bought the Sanctuary Hot Cloth Cleanser & I really like it. I use ordinary flannels & heat them in the microwave. My skin feels really clean and the flannel gently exfoliates. I spritz after with rose water toner then use serum & nightcream. My skin feels really smooth.

I like the Tropic skincare one. I've been using it for years, since she started the company after The apprentice. It's vegan friendly too, which I'm slowly trying to switch my collection to (anti animal testing).

also, i just do it in the shower (on damp not wet face). it's so much easier than faffing with stuff after a shower. The bamboo flannel is on the rack ready to use, cleanser next to my shampoo. On your face, bam, wipe it off gently, bam, rinse under shower, bam. Done!

I slather my face in coconut oil and remove it with a hot flannel (just run under the hot tap and squeezed out)...after years of CTM this has been a revelation, my skin loves it!

LeftMyRidingCropInTheMortuary · 14/08/2015 20:10

Dr Bunting (Harley St Dermatologist) says Liz Earle is just a pleasure product and she doesn't particularly recommend it for problematic skin.

Just watch you're not overdoing the heat/exfoliation with these hot cloth thingies. Skin likes to be treated gently.

NEVER use coconut oil on your face if you are at all prone to acne.

Cinnamonthecat · 14/08/2015 20:21

the tip for heating the facecloth in the microwave is genius Aqua, thank you. I have to run our hot water tap for ages before the hot water gets through (and thats when there's hot water left - rare in our house). I use either Botanics Hot cloth cleansing balm or Lush ultrabland and white facecloths from Primark..

Absolutely love my Eve Lom one. But it takes my fake tan off. And I like a bit of fake tan in the summer.

happy2bhomely · 14/08/2015 21:29

Two words. Caroline Hirons.

Her advice has transformed my skin. I'm 32 and for the first time ever I look better without make up. My DH has noticed and he never notices anything!

I recommend coconut oil for cleansing with a hot flannel. Nip and fab pads for acid exfoliation. Liz earle tonic for toning. Clarins oil before bed. I have combination, dehydrated skin.

Happy36 · 15/08/2015 19:33

I have sensitive and slightly dry skin. I am also allergic to some products (certain ingredients cause my throat to close, or I get itchy eyes). About four months ago, I switched to hot cloth; I use the No. 7 Protect & Perfect one, followed by serum and night cream. I am a big fan!

Verbena37 · 15/08/2015 21:29

Maybe I'm missing something? Is putting the flannel in the microwave the same as putting into a sink of hot water? Surely that's how many people wash their face?

Aquamarine70 · 16/08/2015 01:26

You can put the cloth in hot water in the basin but if your hot tap takes ages to run hot then put it in the micro to heat it quickly.

Have been doing this for yonks!

Can't stand faffing around with cotton wool.

Happy36 · 16/08/2015 11:44

Verbena37 I do it in the shower - the cloth is on the towel rack, then I put the cleanser onto my face, leave it to sink in, then run the cloth under the hot shower water, wring it out, put it over my face for a moment or so, then rinse off. It seems to work well and is very efficient in terms of time and minimal faffing. Although I probably do look a bit like the invisible man whilst I am doing it...luckily nobody watches me shower!

I've recently changed my skincare routine and use the Body Shop Camomile cleansing balm with hot muslin to remove. That stuff is amazing, it smells divine and leaves my skin soft and not at all tight. I then use the REN clarifying lotion, followed by some No 7 Protect and Perfect serum I'm using up (I've then got some Clarins double serum to move onto). That is them followed by Clarins Blue Orchid oil, which I adore, and then Clarins moisturiser. Sounds a lot but it really doesn't take long and my skin feels so clear and soft afterwards.

My Clarins morning and night moisturiser are both about to run out and I can't really afford the £100 it will cost to replace both so grateful for any suggestions of alternatives!

I'm also thinking of introducing Pixiglow tonic every couple of days instead of the REN for a bit of extra exfoliation. Anyone used these and can comment on the difference?

BeautifulBatman · 16/08/2015 17:34

I can highly recommend pixi glow tonic, fab stuff.

Just FYI, the clarins double serum has mineral oil in it. If you've already got it I guess you may as well use it but mineral oil is a cheap waste product that sits on your face rather than sinking into your face... there are better cheaper serums out there.

BeautifulBatman · 16/08/2015 17:36

Moisturiser wise, BodyShop vitamin E is great. So is Superdrug Naturally Radiant moisturiser/serum 2 in 1.

IHaveToHavePeasWithEverything · 16/08/2015 20:37

For budget Hot Cloth Cleansing try this: BOOTS TRADITIONAL COLD CREAM £2.49 and a white hot flannel. I have been doing this for some time now and it really works if you are in a hurry and cannot be bothered or have the time for all the fancier ones BUT I do like the fancy ones too ...

I can recommend Hot Cloth Cleansing

Dermaflannels are brilliant and there is 20% off at the moment at Bravura. Since I have been using a Dermaflannel with either LE or Clarins exfoliator, my skin has been far better and my open pores on my chin have disappeared.
I also use Roche Posey Duo night and day on problem areas and it keeps menopause spots at bay.

AlfieandAnnieRose · 18/08/2015 08:02

I've been using the Liz Earle hot cloth cleansing for just a week now and all I can say is wow! I've been suffering from really bad spots on the left side of my face and around my chin since the beginning of this year and nothing would shift them, it was really getting me down. Plus my face was really oily for the first time and I just felt so ugly, I was really self conscious of my face when out and talking to people.

But since using the hot cloth cleansing I've had no new spots and my skin is smooth! I still have the marks from the old spots but they are fading, I could cry with happiness! I hope hope it will carry on working. I thought I'd give it a try as I read such good things on here so thanks Mumsnetters Smile

Groovee · 20/08/2015 18:13

I got the super drug naturally radiant for dd. What a difference already!

readyforno2 · 21/08/2015 18:55

Can I ask, those of you who use coconut oil as a hot cloth cleanser, what do you use as a moisturiser? I have been finishing off random old ones but getting to the point I'll need to buy some.

trevortrevorslatterfry · 24/08/2015 14:42

NEVER use coconut oil on your face if you are at all prone to acne.

Oh no Sad.. never ever?
