What colour is my hair? PIC included

I'm trying to analyse my colours online and I can't decide which shade of brown my hair is! I have pale skin, with (I think) blue undertones - the shade of foundation boots matched me to is 'calico' which seems to have a greyish/bluish hue. I have freckles and medium blue eyes. My hair, as you can see is sort of medium brown but I can't decide it its ashy/reddy etc. Opinions?

You're a Spring. I'd place money on it!

I have similar colouring but slightly more ash brown hair so I'm on the cooler side of Spring...heads towards Winter.

My colour consultant told me looking at veins was pointless

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 12/08/2015 15:51

Really snooze ? That's interesting. That's what most things base the actual skin tone on and the most confusing thing going for those of us who seem to fit elsewhere, aside from the skin tone. Think I'm giving up on this!

NeverNic · 12/08/2015 22:18

Snoozebox having read the descriptions Im similar though a 'clear' spring / winter. In the summer with a slight tan and my natural golden streaks coming out I'm more spring, but my skin goes very pale in the winter and I go a bit snow white, with my eyes and hair colour standing out. Also looking at the shades of clothes recommended winter shades look better on me.

My natural hair colour is very dark golden brown but I have brown freckles. It took a make up artist to correct me from thinking I'm a cool.

Op you are a light golden brown imo.

SweetAndFullOfGrace · 12/08/2015 22:20

Your colouring is pretty much identical to mine and I'm apparently a summer. Professionally diagnosed and everything Smile

NeverNic · 12/08/2015 22:21

Random question as well op, how do you look in a white blonde wig? Even when I'm pale I look like a tomato wearing one. Far too rosy!

Getdownfromtherethisinstant · 12/08/2015 22:40

I can't say I've ever worn a white blonde wig... I'm not rosy at all though, I'm only ever flushed if I'm I'll or have been exercising!

I thought Winters were cool? Spring and Autumn warm, Summer and Winter cool? I also thought rosy complexions were generally cool toned?

What colour are your eyes NeverNic? I always thought I was cool (and possibly am) because I am bright without a tan, and when I do tan (usually after burning) I look a bit more 'normal'. Have the brown freckles too, but if my hair is how I remember it, and hazel eyes are always warm (as some site say) then I must be warm, but I'm not convinced!

NeverNic · 13/08/2015 20:21

Ah I've never had a consultation so I could be completely wrong and the make up artist could have been talking bs! My eyes are a fairly dark, bright blue and my most striking feature.

I always thought if you were golden in hair and freckles that makes you warm. To be honest though when I don't have a tan my skin looks better with darker and less reddish hair. Clothes wise I'm better in stronger colours. I need to be tanned to wear pastel shades.

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 13/08/2015 20:23

I think the reality of it is, that it's just a bit daft and set up to confuse women and make them think about things they really don't need to Grin

dun1urkin · 13/08/2015 20:36

Not had my colours done, and am now slightly confused.
I always thought I was warm, because I have honey-strawberry-blonde hair. Then I had a custom blend foundation and the makeup lady told me I had cool (blue-red) skin and I switched my colour choices to match (coloured makeup and clothes)
Should I be in warmer colours because of my hair??? Confused

WaggleBee · 14/08/2015 00:38

I'd have said very dark cool blonde.

Your roots and undertone look ashy and your skin looks cool. The veins thing has always been reliable imo. Green veins = warm, blue = cool, both/inbetween = neutral.

I'm not seeing warm brown at all but I'm alone in that.

Googlers123 · 14/08/2015 07:11

Hair and eye colour can be a red herring when it comes to colour analysis. It's all about your skin tone and the only way to really tell (unless you have a very obvious look like Snow White for example) is to do the draping with coloured scarves. Tie your hair ff your face and take make up off. An easy way to tell is to start with white or cream. If white looks better you are cool. then it's about whether brighter or muted colours look better, so if the white like better, then try a bright royal blue compared with a dusky muted blue. If the bright looks better you're a winter, dusky, then you're a summer. If the cream suited you better then try a deep rusty colour vs coral. If the rust is better you're an autumn, if coral, a spring. A proper colour analysis session will work like this but with a million more colours and scarves but this shoul give you a good idea. Hair and eyes usually follow but not always so try to not concentrate on those. For example I k ow a blond winter which is unusual but not impossible

SweetAndFullOfGrace · 14/08/2015 10:31

I agree with Googlers, hair and eye colour don't particularly help, it's about what colours suit you.

Blues are also a good way to differentiate, although there is a bit of overlap (some colours like burgundy suit everyone or many people).

Eg

  • if turquoise looks good on you, probably Spring. Confirm with peach or any warm toned pastel.
  • if bright cobalt looks good on you, probably Winter. Confirm with fuchsia or any clear toned jewel colour eg forest green.
  • if teal looks good on you, probably Autumn. Confirm with burnt orange or rust.
  • if cornflower blue looks good on you, probably Summer. Confirm with cool baby pink or lilac.

You can tell if it looks good because you look less tired, brighter skin, eyes stand out, colour isn't overwhelming you...
