Trendy hair?

Ok, just by using the term 'trendy' I think it's probably clear how out of the loop I am.

Currently I have blondish hair, darker roots with straggles of 6mth outgrown highlights. My hair is long and disgustingly thick.
I want a decent snip and something that will liven me up colour-wise.

What can I do with it? Is ombré still a thing people are doing? Is there a new trend? I like the ombré look, well, the subtle look, but feel like I'm jumping on a bandwagon that set off 2yrs ago and has chugged to a wheezy stop.

I'm only 29 but completely off the fashion radar. Boo.

Somber - the natural looking ombré. I just had this. No one has noticed I've paid £140 on a hair cut changed my hair. It looks like my normal hair, only brighter and younger looking. I like it but wish I'd been bolder. Go for it! Can you post a pic of your hair?

I think very obvious ombré does look a bit naff now but subtle colour gradations are always easy to wear.
