Nice nails without a manicure?

Currently on mat leave and getting ready to go back to work so starting the work standard grooming process again Grin my nails have stayed nice and long since pregnancy and are really strong now so I am loathe to start gelling again and potentially ruining this. How best to make them look neat and profession without a pro manicure?
I am decent enough at painting my own (home gel and regular nail polish) but it never lasts that long and I hate going to a salon as you end up with chipped, scruffy nails for a few days before your appointment. But I think my bare nails don't look tidy enough either.

I find that buffing and then using something like Dior creme abricot gives a nice groomed look without polish or gel.

Buffing! Hadn't thought of that, but it would be low maintenance!

It's low maintenance - i temporarily gave up on nail polish when inevitably every time I'd finish one hand, one of the kids would wake up or spill something etc etc!

Could you recommend a good buffer please Mouthfulofquiz ?

I've never used anything but cheap old supermarket ones Grin
But for a nail file; always use a crystal one (I've had my Leighton Denny one for about 5 years!)
The big expense was the cream but it lasts ages and is lush so i don't mind!

Thank you. The cream does look amazing.

I agree with using the Dior creme abricot. My nails have such a nice sheen now. I also like Bourgois nail polish in rose lounge. It's very pale so easy to apply and it lasts for 3-4 days on me. I just use one coat and it dries in a couple of minutes.
