You know Gwyneth's short, blonde crop in Sliding Doors....

...do you like it? Is it a bit dated?

I have gone progressively shorter and have always wanted this hair do. Do you think it is mumsy or dated now?

I'm no Gwyneth and I am late thirties. But I am tall and slim and my face is ok....

I really like it but think it's the fancy highlights that make it look fab.

Nabootique · 05/08/2015 14:23

I always loved her hair in that! I had a similar 'do once and often think of going short again. Go for it!

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 05/08/2015 14:23

I like it but it's one that could go a bit Meg Ryan on the wrong face.

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 05/08/2015 14:24

Nowt wrong with Meg's do, per se, but hers is a dated look.

Roonerspism · 05/08/2015 14:29

You mean the flicky Meg Ryan? She looks lovely but my face ain't like hers....

I have quite an angular face. Mmmm. And not much money for nice stripy highlights. But what the heck!!!

It's lovely if you have shiny, manageable hair. I have the same style but because my hair is naturally frizzy it never looks sleek and lovely, hence I am growing it out.

squoosh · 05/08/2015 14:56

Meg Ryan's hair is very American News Anchorwoman hair. I think they're contractually obliged to have a short, choppy, blonde Meg Ryan hair.

Gwyneth's Sliding Doors hair is a bit more timeless.

Roonerspism · 05/08/2015 15:01

lulu my hair is naturally straight but I wondere if it may look flat!

Shame you are growing yours out... Did it need re-cut a lot?

I loved that style so much I had had my hair cut like that in the very late 90s.

Unfortunately I looked less Gwynnie and more David Beckham. Still a great haircut on the right person though.

MalmseyWhine · 05/08/2015 15:09

Gwyneth's hair looked great and it is an iconic look for her. Jennifer Lawrence has recently had a similar style, but be careful, you don't want it to turn out like Kate Gosselin.

Roonerspism · 05/08/2015 15:13

Kate Gosselin?!

Oh gosh - no - what happened there. The spiky bits at the back.

hellsbellsmelons · 05/08/2015 15:31

I think it's the sort of hair style that doesn't date.
That's the beauty of it.
I love it too.
Go for it.

Happy36 · 05/08/2015 16:01

I think it´s a classic look. Ask your hairdresser about styling products and blowdrying technique to avoid it falling flat. I think the front parts have to be long enough to avoid the David Beckham effect.

ShuShuFontana · 05/08/2015 16:50

oh...mine's a bit like that, but more swooshy, longer, more asymmetric at the front

just had it re done last week, much croppier at the back, and even the guy who delivers the dog food noticed.

I am thinking about heavy chunky highlights too, but since I spent the last three years growing out all the peroxide I may not. .

BigEasy · 05/08/2015 17:02

What you need is Robin Wright's hair from house of cards, early seasons when it's blonde. I got it recently, and have had so many compliments. Had the sliding doors cut back in the late nineties, and loved it too.

Hers is a bit flat, mine has more lift in it. Went to the Director of Styling at expensive salon, for the initial restyle. So worth it.

Roonerspism · 05/08/2015 19:18

Ooh like that - love it, in fact. Agree about choppier at the back.

My hair could look flat so will need to think about that. Money precludes an expensive cut right now but my hairdresser is pretty good. I hope!

I agree go for Robin Wright hair., she looks amazing. Gwyneth's is a bit dated, and poofy at the back- Claire from steps had the same do back then!!

Nightboattocairo · 05/08/2015 20:41

It's a very 90s cut - but I love it too!

Hellionandfriends · 05/08/2015 20:46

Robin has lovely shorts cuts

Notcontent · 05/08/2015 20:47

It's a great look - go for it.

Oly4 · 05/08/2015 21:34

Love Robin's hair in house of cards

CuffsAndCollar · 05/08/2015 23:41

I love it, also, Sienna Miller version.

You know Gwyneth's short, blonde crop in Sliding Doors....
CrystalMcPistol · 05/08/2015 23:56

I prefer Sienna with long hair.
