Nighties

I'm not sure this should be under style but I really like wearing nighties rather than pyjamas and I can't find any I like and can afford that cover more than just my bum.

I'd like a T-shirt style with maybe a V neck that falls mid-thigh to knee level. Is this too much to ask? I don't really want to spend more than £20 and this is probably where I am going wrong. I am currently still in maternity/feeding nighties from Mothercare which need to go in the bin. Any suggestion? Thank you.

I'm wearing one as you describe now, it was £8 in Peacocks.

goodasitgets · 03/08/2015 00:15

M&S often have some in like that. I also wear the Victoria's Secret t shirt ones a lot

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 03/08/2015 00:24

I've got some from Sainsburys, thin stretchy cotton with a small v neck, just above the knee. Not terribly flattering, but very comfy and practical.

Thanks for the replies (I'm a bit tired at the moment with non sleeping children and forgot I started it!). Will check out the places suggested. I only every seem to see pyjamas and skimpy nighties but they must be out there somewhere!

I've seen those everywhere! The one thing I want but can't find is cotton nightshirts that look as though you're wearing a man's shirt. Non-existent.
And yes, I've tried wearing a man's shirt. The collars are too stiff, they dig in your neck and are not comfy.

MamaLazarou · 04/08/2015 19:50

They had those cotton nightshirts in Primark recently, Doobigetta. I've got a striped one and a tartan one.

sparklyDMs · 04/08/2015 19:53

I got a lovely cotton, nearly knee length striped one and one with ditsy flowers in Matalan

sparklyDMs · 04/08/2015 19:55

Doobie - get a pair of men's pyjamas, the tops are quite long. I got a few pairs to wear after surgery recently

Coastingit · 04/08/2015 20:32

T shirt dresses are your friend. Tesco have loads and they are far too skimpy to wear as dresses but perfect for nightwear, and no teddies / random cheesy slogans, just plain colours or stripes.

PetiteBateau · 04/08/2015 20:34

I saw some like that in tk maxx last week. H&m also do huge long t-shirt dresses. They look just like knee length loose fit tees. I have a navy & white stripe one that I wear as a nightie.

hooliodancer · 04/08/2015 20:51

White company sale. Quality is fantastic, they last for years and years, so more than £20 but cost per wear is less if you get my drift.

I have one I got in the sale 6 years ago and it still looks and feels good.

Greengardenpixie · 04/08/2015 21:08

Matalan has loads too.

Greengardenpixie · 04/08/2015 21:08

www.matalan.co.uk/womens/shop-by-category/nightwear/nighties

Good price too.

Toffeelatteplease · 04/08/2015 21:14

Bhs or primark.

Marks charge significantly more for the same quality as BHS. The difference in quality between BHS primark is insignificant. However generally primark are midthigh (which may be too short for your needs) and bhs do ankle length

hugoagogo · 04/08/2015 21:23

landsend has both the long tshirty type and nightshirts.

Doobigetta · 04/08/2015 22:44

Good ideas, mama and sparkly- thanks. I'll investigate!

Laura7010 · 04/08/2015 22:48

I'm pregnant a needed just the thing to cover my growing bump and boobs! Got one from asda for £8. Nice and soft and does the job well, for now!

Sgtmajormummy · 04/08/2015 23:04

soakandsleep.com have reductions on men's style pyjamas and nightshirts for ladies, but their nightdresses mostly seem to be sleeveless.
