IPL hair remover question

I've just bought a Phillips lumea and am v excited about trying it out. Can I wax instead of shaving first? I can't imagine shaving my upper legs or bikini area.

you need to shave so the hair is just under the skin...waxing will rip it out and the IPL wont work

Thanks chips. I am going on holiday soon and would usually get waxed so I don't need to worry while I'm away. Should I wax this time then start the IPL when I get back?

Yeah start when you get back. You need to use the lumea fortnightly about three or four times before it bears results. In between you have to shave NOT WAX. So if you want to be smooth all the time you're away, wax and then start the lumea sessions when you get back.

I'm afraid shaving's non-negotiable with lumea, it's the only way you can do it
