Buying new bra's!

I've been keenly watching the intervention threads and have decided I'm a 36 G (36" under bust measurement and 45" cross-nipple measurement)

Now where would I go to buy decent semi-affordable bras on the highstreet in this size? Is it an m and s job? I have a fairly ok high street... But nothing fancy. There is a house of Fraser and Debenhams which have various sections too.

I am currently wearing a 38d which is probably why my Boobs are escaping. Am.I pretty on point with the Size?

I would go to debenhams or hof, more variety in terms of brands (& I don't rate m&s).

You'd be better off trying some on in Bravissimo or John Lewis to find styles that fit and then order them cheaper online. Try brands like Fantasie, Freya, Panache and Curvy Kate.

M&S sizing is quite different, their bands are tighter and their sizing misses out some cup sizes.

Hmm will miss out m and s then. No John Lewis unfortunately, might check out knickerbox at Ann summers, we haven't got a bravissimo either suddenly my high street is definitely lacking!

I would avoid a bra from Ann Summers.

Dont forget to scoop - put your right hand under your left arm pit and scoop all flesh up front and the same with the other side - any flesh round the sides should all be in the cup.

If you find the band tight - then try it on back to front, this then keeps the cups out the way and stops the cups from stealing extras from the band if the cups are too small, and see how the band feels then.

Remember it will tighter than you are used to, basically it will feel abit odd as you get new pressure points, abit like when you wore a bra for the first time

A very unsuccessful trip tbh... House of Fraser had Freya and fantasie but limited options... They don't make many 36g's under £30 do they :( feels like38dd have lots more options! Do they stop being 'padded' (or lined or something) past a dd? The bras just look so much less flattering!

Thanks for all the advice so far. I'm going to order a couple of 36G from bravissimo I think. So far I've got a Freya, a curvykate and a Clio in my basket. Two balcony and a plunge, but I'm really after t shirt type plain bras. Is this the holy grail?!

Fantasie does one called Smoothing T-Shirt Bra (unpadded) and also the Rebecca (lightly padded). I also love the Fantasie side support bras.

I buy most of my bras on eBay and Amazon, there are some good bargains. (I'm now 30FF.)

Will check it out :) just to pick brains further, should I try a 34gg or 38ff or am I likely to be a 36g as measured? Can't really afford to lay out £100 plus trying on bras :(

Try the 38 you own back to front to see if the band is way too big - if you measure 36 you're unlikely to need a 38 band in the right cup size.

I tried a 38 and that's way too big,but I also have an (old and worn) Ann summers 36e... I twisted that round and It slips down quite easily, feels comfy but not 'secure' and straps fall down/ back rides up.I can pull it about 4-6" away from my body

My under boob measurement is almost spot on 36 though, so reluctant to go down even more as am sure it will cut in!

You may find that a 34 works for you if you have a squidgy torso. Those of us with a bit of squidgy often need a tighter band to get the support we need. Those who have less padding sometimes need a bigger band than they measure.

I ended up buying a 34gg in Freya, just a plain black one and then a couple of 36g's in Ann summers because I needed something pretty for dp birthday tomorrow. They don't fit quite as well but I'm not sure if that's the sizing or the place!
Am going to chuck out my other bras and buy a couple more everyday ones from the figleaves site
