Permenant dye and highlights- okay to do one the same day?

Or should I leave 24-48 hours in between?

I have short hair, dye growing out (got about 1cm of roots) so I want to highlight and dye, so the all over colour first.

Will it be too much to do one straight after the other?

I got both done on the same day while on holiday
Just make sure you rinse well
It was long and boring but worked really well

I went to the hairdresser today and she did both at the same time. I don't do it myself as I can't do a decent job of it.
