Serious shape wear....

I recently had a thread dithering about a navy bridesmaid dress. After a lot of help from kind people here, (which has converted me from a lurker to a poster!) I have decided to go for the dress I already have and accessorise to make it a bit more glam.

It's a plain, very dark navy dress (www.meandem.com/wrap-top-ruches-dress-navy), but it suits my shape and looks slinky whilst still bridesmaid appropriate. However, although it is thick Jersey, I am 5ft4, a size 12 and it will look infinitely more flattering with shaping underwear (that must also avoid a vpl).

I've been having a look round and think I need something like the Maidenform all in one shorts body (m.figleaves.com/uk/product/FM-2556/Take-Inches-Off-Wear-Your-Own-Bra-Onesie/?productColourId=708420). It's not very pretty, but my biggest concern is going to the loo....

Does anyone have any experience of these? Do they work and is there anything prettier?! The Maidenform one is about £40 and Spanx do one that is twice the price. Is it twice as good?! Whilst I don't want to spend a fortune, I've run out of time to tone up and lose a tummy by myself!

Thanks very much (and I suspect there will be a thread on accessorising the dress soon!).
