Keeping hair looking neat?

Just how do people manage it. By half way through the day I end up looking like Ive been dragged throat a hedge backwards and I dont have a busy/physical job!

I envy those with lovely smart immaculate hair (I'm talking about tied up hairstyles).

I think frequent application of comb/ brush makes a difference, also decent haircut to start with.
But mine is affected by the weather. Heat seal helps, but would be interested to know if anyone has any other tips.

I either swirl mine into a sort of french pleat held with an ibis clip, or put in a bun done with a small doughnut when I need to look good all day (at conferences, that means 12 hours with only time for a swipe of lipstick twice). Then hairspray. It stays neat and tidy all day that way. The less bits hanging down the better.

If its humid, the Daniel Stafford spray is good.
