Are you a gold or a silver person?

Or do you wear both together?

I can never decide so have given up and mix... never know if this is a faux pas.

silver always.

I'm also olive skinned and gold doesn't really suit me

and then I had my colours done (yes cliche) and was told that I should only wear silver.

MadameLeBean · 21/07/2015 13:23

I used to wear only silver when I was younger now I wear only yellow gold - I have olive skin and it suits me way better. Only realised this the last 5 years.. Cannot go back to silver. So hard to find nice yellow gold engagement rings though! What's with this fashion for platinum / white gold only?

MadameLeBean · 21/07/2015 13:24

Oh and I won't mix them..I am fussy like that !

slug · 21/07/2015 14:58

Silver, though I'm prepared to admit that may be because silver jewellery is cheaper.

My wedding and engagement rings are rose gold and these, and any other gold items I have are matt.

I'm a very pale skinned Celt.

MsJuniper · 21/07/2015 15:29

Always silver - gold can look tacky unless it's really good quality and I can't afford that!

Saying that my wedding & engagement rings are a mixture.

maybemyrtle · 21/07/2015 15:36

I can't wear yellow gold, it just looks wrong. I mainly wear silver, but also copper, brass and rose gold - no idea what that means in the warm/cool diagnostics. If anyone wants to hazard a guess I'd be interested to know. Confused

Re olive-toned people preferring silver, I'm sure I read that olive skin can be either warm or cool toned (but more often cool because of the green undertone?).

Bavmorda · 21/07/2015 15:49

I'm wondering about the olive thing myrtle - I'm olive and I never know if I'm cool or warm toned. I have a mixture of both green and blue veins (apparently that's relevant?) and although I wear both I have a definite preference for the way silver stands out against my skin.

Always used used to be gold, then only silver and now my skin has changed as I've aged and I wear both, usually together and it looks ok as I have a gold and silver watch and gold and silver ring so I don't look cobbled together ( I hope !)

SuperFlyHigh · 21/07/2015 17:24

never both am a silver person but like white gold or platinum too

miaowmix · 21/07/2015 17:29

I think they look lovely together but I much prefer gold & I think it suits me more (olive/tanned skin).
What is the blue/green vein theory please?

AccordingToOurRecords · 21/07/2015 17:35

Silver. I know it's an odd reason but I think wearing gold is ageing, as in you are a certain age. Gold was very in during the 80s & 90s. I weighed mine in and replaced with Silver.

Bavmorda · 21/07/2015 17:58

Grey I just remember Googling (trying to find my "colours" without having to pay HOC Grin) and it said if the veins in your wrist are green, you're warm toned. If they're blue, you're cool toned.

mewkins · 21/07/2015 18:24

I prefer silver but I like a mix of metals too. I think it can look lovely together.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 21/07/2015 18:40

I like both and wear both but not at the same time. They're a terrible combination but that's just me. Others may disagree

miaowmix · 21/07/2015 19:22

Thanks Bav. I have green veins so I guess am warm. Far too cheapskate to get my actual colours done though Wink. I use to exclusively wear silver but it felt a bit too Camden market after s whole. Plus I actually love yellow gold.

Nolim · 21/07/2015 19:23

I used to be a silver person.

morethanpotatoprints · 21/07/2015 19:25

I'm allergic to rose/tan gold so have to wear white gold that looks like silver Grin
The rose/tan doesn't suit me anyway as I am a cool person rather than warm and my hair glitters silver in places.

burnishedsilver · 21/07/2015 19:26

Silver.
I dont like gold.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 21/07/2015 19:28

LOL@ too Camden MarketGrin

SouthWestmom · 21/07/2015 19:28

Rose gold. Love it.

EmmaWoodlouse · 21/07/2015 21:26

Silver all the way, I hate gold. I'm not sure which is theoretically supposed to suit me better but I just don't like the colour gold and it doesn't suit my perception of my style.

Sapat · 21/07/2015 21:30

Silver, always, or white gold.

MrsMarigold · 21/07/2015 21:35

Gold looks so much better on me - but I wear both.

WaggleBee · 22/07/2015 00:41

I'm cooled toned and suit silver which I also really like. All of my necklaces and earrings are white gold or silver.

But my engagement ring and wedding ring are yellow gold. Confused

So I'm no help at all really.

RitaKiaOra · 22/07/2015 00:48

Rose gold.
