Recommend a hair tool please!

I have chin length hair that I'm growing out.

It's very thick.

I want to get messy big waves.

Do I need a wide barrel tong?

I've seen those wand things but I know I would burn myself constantly.

You can make great waves with straighteners. I use GHD's but there are some great cheaper straighteners now. They do take some practice but would probably be quicker than using a large barrel tong.

I have slim GHDs. I've tried to curl using them before but the results were appalling. I was very cack handed!

Will have a look on YT for a tutorial and practice.
