Are suede skirts a bad idea?

Do they look like a rag quickly? Also, can't tolerate dry cleaning so any other way of keeping them looking presentable (dark shade)? Thanks, ladies!

I think you are being a bit optimistic, if you are not going to go the dry cleaning route, sorry. Don't know if there is any good fake suede out there, which is machine washable?

There was an article in yesterday's Guardian magazine about this, it was recommended to buy a suede jacket and not a skirt.

Suede and leather can't be dry cleaned, they have to go off for specialist cleaning which costs a bomb. I have a suede skirt from the 90s in light beige. They get dirty so a darker colour is a good idea, I can't see that any light coloured suede is s good idea if you don't want to spend more than it cost on cleaning.
