Was Kate Pippa and Carole all wearing cream?

Amethyst24 · 06/07/2015 19:03

Kate always wears tights. I thought she looked like she must've been awfully hot.

WipsGlitter · 06/07/2015 19:08

I think it was a bit too contrived. It was very "staged" looking.

Yes, they were wearing tights, it's a formal occasion. I thought Kate and Pippa's outfits were a bit samey.

iamwomanhearmesnore · 06/07/2015 19:11

Grim - I'm also intrigued about Kate, Pippa and Carole all wearing cream. I've just posted on the other thread about it (getting a bit over-invested here and not avoiding my work no not at all!)

burnishedsilver · 06/07/2015 19:47

I thought they were dressed appropriately for the occasion. I doubt Royal dress has ever been up to the minute.

PrettyObvious · 06/07/2015 19:56

I just thought they looked like any christening I have ever been to, including the heirloom christening gown.
We have one in my family and are certainly not royal.

TheCraicDealer · 06/07/2015 20:58

Was I the only one who looked at Pippa's geddup and thought, "friggin hell, she must be cooking in that!"? It looked like really thick material, long sleeves, high neck, long skirt. For the south of England. In July. During a heatwave. Whyyyyyyy?

meglet · 06/07/2015 21:03

Kate was frumpy but appropriate. Beautifully tailored McQueen though.

LashesandLipstick · 06/07/2015 21:17

In what way was she frumpy?! I think they looked lovely :)

WixingMords · 06/07/2015 21:29

Honestly what on earth must those that think she's frumpy think of the less well dressed!!

Roseybee10 · 06/07/2015 21:33

Frumpy?

FraggleHair · 06/07/2015 21:56

I wouldn't say frumpy but I would say she dresses in an overly maturely way. The clothes she wears are interchangeable with her mother's. I know her position means more fashion forward items are out but I'd like to see her push the fashion envelope a leeetle bit further. She must have designers banging her door down. Lucky thing.

But I think conservative and middle of the road is the look she genuinely likes.

At the moment I think she looks best when she's in casual wear.

TheCowThatLaughs · 06/07/2015 21:57

There's no humour or playfulness at all in her outfits. She looks fine though, just very buttoned up.

Roseybee10 · 06/07/2015 22:00

I reckon she must be under a lot of pressure though. The whole incident with the topless sunbathing and the skirt flying up thing maybe made her a bit 'safe'.

LashesandLipstick · 06/07/2015 22:02

How would an outfit have humour?

BeaufortBelle · 06/07/2015 22:06

I'm a year older than Diana and share her birthday. I think they all, without exception, looked incredible. I was of that era and actually met Diana once or twice and knew one or two of the people she she knew around the time of her wedding. If I were her, I'd be incredibly proud of William and Kate and their children.

Don't see the need for all the bitchiness. Kate's a beautiful young woman from a family of very decent people and she doesn't put a foot wrong.

TheCowThatLaughs · 06/07/2015 22:06

No fun then. Humour was probably not the right word! her style is a bit mother of the bride but much younger and more expensive! I do think she looks nice though

millymae · 06/07/2015 22:08

Was I the only one who thought that Prince George was under dressed bearing in mind that all the adults (apart from the Nanny) were wearing coats and jackets. I assume that either they were all uncomfortably hot or he doesn't feel the cold!

FraggleHair · 06/07/2015 22:09

People love using that phrase about Kate, 'she doesn't put a foot wrong'.

I wonder what a wrong foot would look like. Stephanie of Monaco's antics of yore perhaps. Would certainly make the Daily Mail's day.

Roseybee10 · 06/07/2015 22:09

I thought he looked ridiculous but I just don't like the style they dress him in. Just personal preference.

WipsGlitter · 07/07/2015 07:13

I think she will look back and cringe that she dressed him in outfits that matched Williams as a child.

I think they all looked a bit overdressed. A nice summer frock and no hat would still have looked good/smart but fresher.

Agree Pippa must have been boiling hot.

lem73 · 07/07/2015 11:03

It was a bit ironic that they tried to make it an understated informal affair and it ended up looking a bit staged. I thought the Queen looked fab. She has a knack of being dressed just right for the occasion.
I always feel Kate dresses a bit too safely.

Inarightpickleandchutney · 07/07/2015 11:16

The Queen (and I know how ridiculous this sounds!) always looks so Royal. Even in more casual things you could never mistake her for a 'normal' person, there is something very very classy about her maj.
Some of the other Royals look a bit uncomfortable dressed to the nines, but the Queen always gets it just right.

thesaurusgirl · 07/07/2015 16:49

Pippa's Emilia Wickstead dress was a lovely shape but so badly made. The waistband didn't sit properly at the back because the seams weren't properly aligned, and you could see the zip in places.

Amateur dressmaking at £2k a pop, they saw her coming Wink.

lem73 · 07/07/2015 21:59

£2k for a very plain dress! How many pre-filled party bags do you have to sell to pay for that?!
