Hello,

I'm on Week 3 of using my Boots Smooth Skin and am really pleased so far. I can smell the hair burning and it is reassuringly tingly so I feel it IS strong enough.

Best bit tho is that the hairs drop out after a day or two as promised.

So I'm feeling optimistic. Hopefully £300 well invested!!

I've got the Lumea Compact and have only done two sessions, but my goodness, isn't it time-consuming... I'm doing my extended bikini line and full legs, and it takes me forever. I find it so very boring - do you also find that?

LeftMyRidingCropInTheMortuary · 05/07/2015 12:06

The good thing is the machine makes no noise so you can do watch/listen to the TV/music. Whereas my epilator was too noisy to do that! Had to put headphones on to hear anything! Yeah, it's boring though. I'm not doing my legs yet because they are covered in midge bites!

As long as my pits and bits are smooth then I will be happy!

i've abandoned mine for now as i have a bit of a tan and as my hair isn't particularly dark, i doubt it will work very well. i was unsure if it would work on my colouring anyway so maybe i shouldn't have bought it. bit expensive for two or three uses only Blush.

I'm trying to get back into it after pregnancy but I'm struggling to find the time. I did my bikini line for the first time the other day so hoping to at least keep that up!

todayiamfat · 05/07/2015 19:47

I have the lumea and have just done my 3rd session.

I would normally have to shave daily and would have stuble before end of the day Blush.

First session didnt notice any difference. 2nd session i was able to go 2 days without shaving! I am very excited to see how much todays session has an affect.

Libitina · 05/07/2015 20:13

Also have the Lumea. From shaving my legs daily (or epilating) at this time of year, I can go a week easily without anythng more than the few bits I've missed needing a quick whisking over with a razor. Under arms are patchy and I'm shaving them every 2 to 3 days. Bikini is about 50% better than it was. The shaving itch drives me mad there though, I do think it's worth the discomfort though.

Shitmyhairdressersays · 05/07/2015 21:35

Libitina how long did it take you to get to that stage? How many sessions? I have to shave every day and I hate it. I can see the hair under the skin even when I've shaved like dots. Drives me nuts.

MegMurry · 06/07/2015 00:33

I have a Lumea and have used it twice on my lower legs.

I can see that it has totally worked as I have a 2mm wide strip of stubble on both of my shin bones, showing me where I missed! The rest of both legs is now hair free.

I am attempting my bikini line which is a bit trickier.

Shitmyhairdressersays · 06/07/2015 14:20

Meg does it work that quickly? Which one did you get?

JenniMoo · 06/07/2015 14:29

I've been rubbish the last couple of months and it seems to be pretty much back to normal... Need to get going again.

HappenstanceMarmite · 06/07/2015 14:34

The Lumea Compact is on offer in Boots for £100 (was £200!). Says online only but it is not - I got two at the weekend from Boots in Bournemouth. One for my daughter and one for sis. I paid full price about six weeks ago Angry

butterfly133 · 06/07/2015 19:39

I posted a query about this and got no replies
I have the Silk n Glide from QVC. Have used twice on highest setting. I normally epilate and now I'm having to shave, but I'm not noticing any effect. It could be my perception is off because in used to being hair free for weeks.

Talisin · 06/07/2015 19:56

Unless you're one of the very lucky few then I wouldn't expect to really see much, if any, difference after two sessions. Took me several weeks (I have a Lumea but I would imagine much the same process). Are you using the correct setting for your hair/skin type? Highest setting doesn't mean most effective.

Libitina · 06/07/2015 20:17

I've used it 3 times so far.

The Lumea provides a chart (check amazon), so does the Silk n Glide (after a quick google). I'm guessing most machines will have something similar in their instruction manuals or online.

WalkingThePlank · 06/07/2015 21:43

I've done my legs and underarms twice and there is no difference. Have done face and bikini and again no difference.

butterfly133 · 06/07/2015 21:45

The leaflet also says you should start to see a difference after two treatments. My hair was patchy after years of epilate on so it is possible that I'm just not sure. But there's a 90 day money back guarantee, luckily.

purpleapple1234 · 07/07/2015 18:31

I've been using the lumea for 2-3 months now. Like a pp said l have only a few whips of hair on my legs that I shave away once a week. Bikini line is almost clear. Under arms are once a week too. Fantastic!!!! Summer was always such a pain - having to plan going swimming or even wearing a summer skirt weeks in advance. I hated daily shaving and waxed instead, but then needed to keep on top of the regrowth. I feel almost like a Scandinavian with blonde barely there hair. I can do the summer spontaneously this year!

The downsides though: it is very very tedious to do (but so was waxing), it isn't working as well on previously plucked areas like my chin (still persevering, but hate spot-shaving here) and I am wondering about maintaince now that I am tanned.
