Micellar water

So I bought a bottle of Garnier Micellar water that was half price in Tesco. What is all the hype about it and is it any better than Simple wipes ? I tried taking off my eye make up with it and it stung like crazy?

I don't like it either. I'm going back to Simple eye make up remover when I've finished the bottle.

I prefer it to the wipes, personally. I have been using the La Roche one, which is fine on my eyes. If it's ok on your face, maybe just use eye-make remover as well?

It's a dilute form of the type of cleanser/toner (like 10-0-6) that was popular in the 1970s. I don't find there's a great deal of difference between brands.

To clarify, I don't use the simple wipes-I like the eye make up remover in the bottle. My face never feels clean after using wipes.

IME you can get away with using wipes occasionally, but too many days in a row and you start to see you skin is less clear. Good for lazy days and hangovers, IMO. :)

It stung my eyes then the next morning they were blood shot and looked like id been punched.
Honesty I threw it away.

I'm getting in fine with the Garnier one (I had to buy it on holiday as it was what was available after the one I'd packed got smashed in my suitcase) but it's not one I would have bought otherwise because I've never got on with other Garnier skincare in the past.

The Simple one made my eyes sting and irritated my skin a bit. I like the La Roche Posay one best. The Avene one was like acid on my face.

I love micellar water, although I use a separate eye makeup remover (am currently using a Eucerin one which is brilliant). I never feel it quite gets everything off.

I use micellar water as a first cleanse to get off the basics of makeup and sun screen, then go in with a second cleanser to do a more thorough job.

I use the Garnier one, mainly because it always seems to be on special offer somewhere. I love it, my skin feels soft and clean, I haven't experienced any stinging at all.

You need micellar eye GEL for eye makeup removal , Loreal make one. Non stingy.

Ah ha, that must be why mine does nothing to my mascara!

Stings my face too, especially the eyes, tried LRP and Garner, never again. I'm using it up by cleaning make-up brushes with it.

I felt the same when I first used my garnier micellar water.
You need much less than you think on the cotton pad so it doesn't sting your eyes.
Now I love it and use it all the time as well as my other cleansing products.
I will never go back to using wipes and micellar water has been really good to my skin and for those times I want to clean my face in a hurry or I use it as a first cleanse after wearing makeup and sunscreen if I can't be pfaffed using my take the day off.
My skin has never looked better.
IMHO I think using micellar water in between days of using my other cleansers I have a good balance going on. Plus cost wise it's great stuff.

Thanks ladies. To clarify, I use Simple wipes to take off the worst of my make up before using the hot cloth cleansers etc. I use Astral to take off my eye make up (have done for about 40 years !) but my eyes do get red and watery so I was looking for an alternative.

It's thd skin it stings on my eyes, not stinging because it gets in them, so I don't think using less would help me.
