Just had my bridal make up trial

And I look like a clown

Oh god. I've paid for her to come on the day and do it too.
So unprofessional. She had to go in the other room and do an intimate wax while I waited for 20 minutes.

I could cry

In fact if I cried it would still leave this muck on my face.
I'm worried now I've spent the money and I won't get it back and I do NOT want to look like this on my wedding day.

Your own make up is much nicer. I hippie you get a refund.

Lancome do a fantastic primer in a little glass pump bottle.

I wondered if your lighting was measurably different as your skin looks airbrushed in comparison to the other photo where the foundation is patchy. I can only assume people who don't see that are looking at the pictures on their makeup as patchy foundation makes one hell of a difference.

Just cancel, have you got time to find someone else if you don't want to do your own? (Your own looks fab, by the way)
I had exactly the same, I had a trial with someone and it was bloody awful, I hated it. I cancelled her (think I said I couldn't afford it!) and found someone else who was brilliant and did exactly what I wanted.

I haven't got time to find any where else. Wedding very soon.

Any ways ... do I just call and say I've thought about it and I don't like it. So do I ask for a refund ?

The first photo looks like it's been edited?

OttiliaVonBCup · 02/07/2015 18:32

You can say that you took photos and don't like the way you look in them.
Fair and true.

DottyCotton · 02/07/2015 18:36

The first pic has a better pose, a happier expression and it has been edited - whether by yourself or an in built feature of the phone. So I wouldn't say it was a fair comparison.

That said, I don't think the 2nd pic shows a very professional application. I think I'd cancel and do some research into finding someone better.

I would go to a makeup counter at a big department store and ask for advice about a long lasting foundation if you are worried about your usual one not lasting . They will probably have some samples that you can try or they might make you up for free.

Well rest assured you can do a great job yourself. I think it's more than fair to ask for a refund. Do they have a policy on their website? I'm guessing you'd have read it by now!

What the refund for? Is it just for the trial or is it for the big day itself too?
If it was just for the trial, I can't believe you'd ask to be honest. The point of a trial is to have a play around and you can decide from there. She wasn't to know that you wouldn't like it. It's time that she's taken out of her day to spend on you rather than another client.
The fact that you don't like what she's done is your problem not hers, so I think you'd be out of order to ask for the money back. Not if you've already paid for the wedding though, I think that's fair.
Why on earth did you book for the wedding before having a trial though? You didn't know how you'd look.
I've had a look at the 2 pictures and you look the same in both to me - I don't weat make up - can you tell?!

Sorry, just saw you had paid for her to do it for the wedding too. In which case, as you're not happy, of course just tell them you didnt like it and would like a refund (or partial refund).

Yes a refund for the wedding day not the trial is fair.

You are overreacting massively. You do not look like "a clown". In the second set of pictures that you've put up (where you aren't pulling a ridiculous face) the foundation is not lasting well, and might be a bit pale for you, but it's not awful. It's not even really bad.

If you aren't happy with it, then speak to her, tell her that you are unhappy with the trial (that's what a trial is for after all), and that you aren't going to have time "on the day" to go through a trial and error approach. A trial is meant to sort out the look you want, etc. Since you're also not happy with her level of professionalism then I don't see what you're waiting for.

Check your contract to see whether you would be entitled to a refund.

On your actual wedding day, if you do your make up yourself put on more blusher than you would usually. I was amazed at how much I had to put on.

Also remember to bring some tissue paper and some pressed powder for touch ups. I didn't do this, so just had to blot with paper. I regret not taking powder, but not that much.

Also, thin layers of make up are much much more effective, and look better as they (inevitably) wear off slightly during the day.

Cancel her and do your own. You know what you like, what sort of make up you feel comfortable in and you will be far happier.
If you want advice on eye make up, simply go into one of the big department stores and ask them. They'll be more than happy to do your make up and give you some ideas.

Why not tell her that your photographer dropped round and photographed it - and although you thought it looked ok at the time there were lots of problems with it photographing badly
You didnt realise that there was going to be such a problem with this - and she can give it another go with that in mind - or you're going to go with the photographers recommendation for a makeup artist

which is all very much close to the truth..without you having to say you loved it or having to directly insult her - providing you dont mention the photographer was infact yourself

Do your own - yours looks lovely and the salon's looks really amateurish. The eyeliner is very bad.

I actually think your first pic, the make up you did looks heavy and not natural at all. But you have done a nicer job than the make up in pic 2. Do it yourself but I'd tone down the foundation a bit. Cancel her now and hopefully you'll get your money back. When did you pay her for the wedding, it's nornal to not pay up until after the trial for that exact reason, if the tru is not to your liking.

Agree with others, say after taking photos it doesn't look right and can you have a refund for the wedding day.

I do my friends make up for special occasions and tbh I don't know how someone would have the cheek to take money for the make up she has applied on you!

Your make up looks fine, eyes look nice but I do think there is a filter or some kind of editing going on.

I would definitely recommend a setting spray, urban decay do a few, depending on if you need a bit extra hydration or if you are oily more of a anti slick one.

Just say you liked the make up she did but it didn't wear well throughout the day????

Oh bless you. I had my bridal trial this week and I'm really happy. I took recommendations. Where in the country are you? Would you like recommendations?

It's really not unusual for a bride to have more than one trial. I promise. Most brides have 2 or so.

The fact that she abandoned you for 20 min to see another customer is atrocious. The trial should be her tweaking until the look you have is what you want for the day. That's why it's called a TRIAL.

Tell the "artist" you're not happy and would like to cancel the booking.

Your wedding is about you being happy and feeling like you. It is not about you giving people money for the sake of it.

'Pulling a ridiculous face'

Is there really any need to be quite so rude?
