Interview on Wednesday during heatwave - what to wear - help?!

I have to get a bus into town so it will be boiling! I don't want to arrive a hideous sweaty mess (I tend to sweat when I'm nervous as well). I have a pretty limited wardrobe and can't really afford to buy anything else. I take it sandals would be a no-no? I have a subtly patterned knee length dress and a smart black fitted coat but I'm wondering what to wear on my legs/feet? Would bare legs be bad? I have flat pink pointed ballet pumps? Would that be ok? Thanks for any help!!

I reckon the flat pumps would be fine. Are they like nude pink?

And I think you'd be fine I take off your jacket once you got in if its hot.

I think it depends on where your interview is. I wouldn't wear a jacket. If it is that hot, I don't think anyone would expect you to wear tights. Perhaps the dress and ballet flats.

Thanks Loglady. No they're a sort of coral pink (they were bought online described as coral but more pink when arrived!). What about bare legs with a bit of fake tan slapped on?

No experience of interviews in that sector. I imagine as long as you are modestly dressed. It will be fine. Good luck!

What about taking a pair of nude tights and putting them on just before you get to the interview?

Bare legs would be fine so long as skirt is not short. I think heeled sandals would look smarter than ballet pumps, but depends what you actually have in the way of sandals. Can't see why a coat would be necessary.

Knee length dress sounds perfect, just make sure hair is neat. It's hard to look groomed when you are boiling, if you are anything like me most make up will just smudge. So I'd go for minimal makeup but strong lipstick.

Thanks all. Delph, I have black sling back peep toe wedges which are a possibility. I'm toying with idea of black trousers and cream shirt now as I'm not actually much a dress person. Good tip about the make up though. Thanks!

I had an interview last year in the heat, I wore cropped grey cigarette trousers and a white shirt with black paitent court shoes.
I had a black blazer with me which I didn't wear I popped it on the back of my chair - I didn't know if I was going to get blasted withq icy aircon.

I got the job so must have looked reasonable.

I had an interview last week when it was a hot day. I wore smart trousers, a sleeveless silk blouse and sandals (they were flat, inoffensive nude sandals and the trousers were long/wide legged so you could barely see what was on my feet, really). I wore a jacket into the interview, but removed it as soon as I was in the interview room.

I was umm-ing and ahh-ing about the sandals, but you need to weigh up comfort versus style. No point looking the business if you're uncomfortable and sweaty.

If you know you will sweat on the bus journey I would travel in a different top / dress to the one I was wearing and change before interview. Oh and take some baby wipes to freshen up a bit. I had an interview in London a few months ago (I live in Glasgow so had to fly down) and that's what I done. I got changed in the loo in a coffee shop - I got the job.
