Dresses with brogues?

Is it a wearable look or will I look like an extra from Brideshead Revisited?

I wear lots of tea dresses usually with low t-bar or maryjane heels or converse or biker boots in the winter.

I fancy some brogues. Would they look nice? Can I go barelegged? I've seen people wearing them with ankle socks which frightens me.

Thoughts?

I'd say no but I am by no means an authority on style

I wear brogues and dresses a lot and think I look OK but only if I wear them certain ways. Dresses must be on or above the knee - I'm quite short so don't wear longer dresses anyway. I can't do brogues with bare legs so wear opaque tights - grey and navy blue both go quite well with tan brogues as long as there is some navy or grey somewhere in the dress. I absolutely love my brogues and they are pretty much my early spring and autumn staple.
