Fascinator on a head band - why did I bother?

Going to a wedding and thought I'd make an effort (as it's posh).

I truly look ridiculous in a hat, so bought a discreet fascinator, it's on a head band. So - what do I do just plonk it on top of my head? The flowery feathery bit is to the side.

I have layered bob style hair, with a blunt fringe.

Go without.

Honestly. No good can come of wearing a hairband fascinator.

Hepzibar · 22/06/2015 22:07

Mmm thought someone may say that.

Don't won't to look a dick, so I will take that sound advice it was a weak moment

Yep, just plonk it on, or if you can afford it, get a blow dry at the hairdresser and they will place it for you.

I love a fasvinator!

MamaLazarou · 22/06/2015 22:12

Yes, get a hairdresser to put it in for you. I did this for a wedding last year and it looked fabulous.

LadyMaryofDownton · 22/06/2015 22:16

Fascinators are a must at a Wedding especially if it's a fancy one. There's nothing wrong with what you've described, I've a few the same. Put it on for the service take it of after the pics. I am sure you'll look lovely, have a great day.

NomiMalone · 22/06/2015 22:19

Fascinators are categorically not essential for a wedding.

99% of them look naff and dated.

I don't think there is a single woman who wouldn't look better with a good blow dry than a stupid feathery hairband.

And it's only in the UK that people subscribe to the misguided notion that they're chic. What's that about.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 22/06/2015 22:30

I love fascinators, I don't care what everyone says. Especially hairband ones. Although I normally put my hair up with them so I don't look like I'm wearing a hairband

MamaLazarou · 22/06/2015 22:33

Yes, the hairband ones stay put longer, especially as part of an up-do.

nilbyname · 22/06/2015 22:33

I would ditch it, and if your feeling the need get the florist to do you a fresh flower for your hair, pin it to a slide and clip it in?

Hepzibar · 23/06/2015 20:03

I'll definitely be having a blow dry and my hair is quite nice best bit of me
It's not long enough to put up though, so I'm still thinking I might just look like I've got an Alice band on with a Feathery flowery thing stuck to it!

Is the Alice band very thick and a contrasting colour to your hair? In that case, I would ditch it, I'm afraid.

Hepzibar · 23/06/2015 22:21

It's not thick, bit less that a centimeter, but yes def contrasting. My hair is blonde bleached high lights and the fascinator is navy.

I'm leaning to ditching.

Yes, ditch!
