Where to get a complete vintage make up look (London)?

I was thinking of getting a counter consultation in town. I desperately need a whole new make up look.

But I'm looking for something vintage-inspired (30s/40s) that I can wear everyday.

Is this a job for a counter? Where?

I haven't tried here, but friends have and speak positively of it. It's near crystal palace station.

You're not likely to find vinatge expertise at a counter - but good ones for a new look are Bobbi Brown, Mac IMHO.
Vintage looks can be found via the many blogs out there www.retrochick.co.uk is a good one.
Alternatively you could pay for a vintage makeover - I had a fab set at The Painted Lady in Shoreditch a couple of weeks ago.
I've also been to a makeover day which was fab but really apart from distinct lip shapes, vintage styling tends to be understated shadow, eyeliner, mascara with strong lips - which without the corresponding hairstyle won't look that dramatic!

Thanks. I think The Painted Lady might have gone. I'll check out the Crystal Palace one - their website doen't look as though it's updated much, but if they are retail stockists for a decent range, that could work Smile.

I'm ok on technique (don't need lessons for e.g.) - just want a whole new bag of make- up ( have existed mainly on Besame for four years, but I've gone off it a bit) and need someone who will sell me the stuff with one eye on vintage colour palettes while knowing their stuff skin-wise too.

Oh a couple of weeks ago? (I misread). I'll look them again too, then.

Can you try Illamasqua?

GrimDamnFanjo · 22/06/2015 22:52

Yes Painted Lady is still there! It's owned by the woman who wrote the "Style Me Vintage" books.

Got a 40s look in JL a month or so ago from the Japonesque lady. And didn't cost me anything!

Thanks. I might try all of these Smile
