DH is in Chicago & I'm wondering what to request as a "thanks for wrangling the kids without a wingman for a wk" pressie!
I'm a UK 18 so guessing there won't be a huge amount of clothes (although have already asked him to look out for a kimono style jacket/top.
I really need some face cream at mo (normal/dry skin) and recently got a few bits of Bobby brown make up which I love, but don't know if considerably cheaper in U.S. Or what to ask him to look out for.

Any ideas/brand suggestions welcome - it's my birthday next month so can hope he gets some inspiration/feels generous!

Sephora.com - browse it a bit and you might find a bunch of things you'll want, browse some then send him a list. I love their mini products and you could also ask for a most popular products collection.

The only things worth getting are beauty products, so sephora is ideal, I also get bath bits and antibac gel from bath and bodyworks.

I mean these samplers plus they have a trial size product wall and really many popular perfumes available as inexpensive rollerballs. So instead of one boring bottle you can have some variety. They have Bobbi Brown too but go for the more US-specific stuff, it will feel more unique.

What about a visit to J Crew. I just love this...

Electronics tend to be loads cheaper. Clothes are always cheaper but I wouldn't have him so clothes as you can't try on. One thing that always fits and is cheaper: jewellery!

Have passed on info so fingers crossed, he met with friends who live over there & one of them is far more into makeup than I am & get the impression she made the decisions & DH just watched & paid... Fingers crossed it doesn't end in an "AIBU to be at my friends makeup choices"!

size 18 here is a 14 there so plenty of choice and lots of stores carry a 14, I love Old Navy its like gap but a bit cheaper and the plus section is fab. With the exchange rate now and prices as they are its really only the American brands that are cheaper.

Definitely get on the Old Navy website, lovely stuff and plenty in a U.S. 14. I love their cropped Pixie trousers.

My dp goes to the States quite a bit - last time he brought back Levis and a belt, and some teabags (I drink all sorts of weird teas). Oh and a Victorinox laptop bag, cos I needed a new one.

This time I'm not sure what he'll do (he has two more trips this summer - we have no dc so not sure why he keeps buying me gifts, I tell him I don't expect them and I definitely don't want perfume from the airport, I have loads of perfume).

Always buy AdvilPM or TylenolPM. Advil is brufen, Tylenol is paracetemol. The PM bit is an antihistamine which sends you to sleep. It is fabulous!

We both take them for flights now - dp can sleep on a clothesline but even he likes them now, you seem to wake up less achy too. All his colleagues now take it. I take them now and then (maybe twice a year) at home if I have trouble sleeping for a few nights in a row. I found antihistamines generally to be good value so we brought a tub of 80 back - dss takes one every day, dp takes them regularly, I take them when I get insect bites, so we go through quite few packets of 5 that you get for the good ones here. If nothing else it saves me having to remember to buy the dratted things every week.

Course, as it is proper duty free he could get a nice gin or something?

Clinique and Shiseido are much cheaper in the states. Apparently even the Japanese like to stock up when they are there.
