Perfume just disappears on me.

I've just had a lovely load of samples through my door. After a first sniff, I'm intrigued by almost all of them. So I've tried three different ones on three different days. Doused myself heartily, and yet friends and colleagues can't smell them on me and I can barely smell them on myself after an hour or so.
This is the same with so many perfumes for me. A few last, but they're not always my favourites and it really annoys me.

I sprinkle on pulse points, but also on my clothes, which seems to help a lot. But not enough.

Is it just me? I love sitting there sniffing my samples, but it's so depressing thinking there's no point wearing them cause no-one, even myself, will be able to smell them.

I sometimes spray scents on my clothing before I iron, to seal in the scent.

I have the same problem but if i spray on my actual body, i can smell it all day. I usually spray on my chest area before i put on my top.

I have 2 perfumes (out of an embarrassingly large number ) that last all day on me. They are the ones that don't 'feel' as though they mix with my natural skin smell though. I kind of prefer just getting the odd 'waft' rather than feeling conscious of my perfume all day iykwim?

Try mixing the scent with a little baby oil, then rubbing the oil on your skin. Leave to dry before dressing obviously. I also spray in my hair - that seems to last longer than on my skin.

Apologies if I'm stating the bleeding obvious, but eau de toilette doesnt last any length. For longevity I think eau de parfum is better. I have 2 edp's by Tom Ford - white patchouli and black orchid - which last really well but they are a bit heady. Also Flora by Gucci (new) which is lasting.

Use a scent free deodorant and then spray your scent under your armpits, seems to last ages like that ime.

I suspect that some perfumes deliberately don't last, as more re-applying means more sales for the companies ...

I found a scent that I fell in love with a few weeks ago but it barely lasted til I got out the door of Boots. (It was Dior Cruise Collection Escale de Pondichery). I keep going back for a squirt because it lifts my spirits, which is why I love perfumes.

I never buy FBs cause I can't bring myself to spend the money, but sample spends just seem so harmless.

Flora, it's not just me, other people can't smell perfume on me. Ever. My last lot of sample were .5ml and I've been a bit scared to go proper generous but I think I may get really heavy when finishing smelling my way through them.

Have you considered solid perfume or oil?

I find that citrus and some flowery smells just fall off me. They need a longer lasting base to stay and develop over time. For me oak moss works pretty well as a base note but Oudh even better. Depends on your taste though, I love spicy deep smoky scents so that works great for me, but might not be everyone's cup of tea. What kind of scents do you like OP? The best tip I was ever given was that you need to find a scent that combines with your natural smell so your skin just seems to breathe it out IYKWIM.

For me it is directly proportional to price. I wonder if expensive scents simply have more perfume in them?
