Hair disaster PLEeease help!

My hair is mid/light brown with greys and I've been dyeing it a long time. Just recently though it goes reddish whatever I do, using ash browns it goes very dark auburn colour - dark doesn't suit me, use a light ash brown nothing happens and as I did today - on the advice of a YouTube beauty blogger - light ash blonde - it's gone proper ginger!!!!!!!!!
What the hell is happening and why can't I just get a light brown colour???
Can't afford a 'colour correction' at the hairdressers & have a weddin on Sunday. Please help, what can I buy from boots to sort this out? Thank you

If you want to remove the hair dye, this is a cheap way of doing it, google it for instructions, its the Vitamin C and Shampoo mix hair dye removal method, I've done it several times and always works for me. You just need a tube of those Vitamin C effervescent tablets and preferably a cleansing shampoo, if not any shampoo. You can then re-colour after.

As for hair dyes, I can't advise on colour as I like the dark browns at the moment. I've used the VS Salonist a couple of times in the dark neutral brown shade and it came out without any red tones so I wonder if they do a light neutral or ash brown shade?

Ah thanks, I've tried so many shades it's ridiculous. I wonder if bleaching it then doing ash brown?? God what a nightmare dh had a fright when he got back from work I'll look that up thanks ninja

a quick way of (hopefully!) making it less ginger is to get hold of some touch of silver shampoo. its purple so tones down redness, there are lots of purple toning shampoos on the market but touch of silver is the cheapest, and you can get it in boots. i used it recently to sort out a hair dye mess, washed it 5 times and straight away the colour was better.
