Can you get a half decent handbag without spending hundreds?

I thought I'd found a lovely handbag from a charity shop, tag said real leather. But a few months on it's obviously not leather as the plastic is peeling off.
It's my birthday next month & I'm thinking of asking for contributions towards a handbag; however most handbags on these boards seem to cost hundreds if not thousands and there's no way I'll get anything close to that. Any recommendations for under £100?

If you like the styles, Coach vintage bags like the Patricia, the Janice, the Stewardess amongst others, are AMAZING quality and you can pick them up for around $50-60 including tax and postage to the UK if you buy them from eBay.com (there are more on the US site than over here) in excellent condition. I bought one and the leather is such good quality that I have now tracked down five!

I recently got a lovely handmade one from Etsy (part leather/part canvas) for £60. There seemed to be lots of reasonably priced, real leather bags to choose from

I'm another chiming in saying 'TK Maxx'!

That Tuscany link looks fantastic!

I have had bags from TK Maxx which are fab, but you'll need to be patient and browse there regularly til you find something you like. Fossil are brilliant, great quality and gorgeous colours.

One of my favourite bags is from Red direct (the magazine) and its lasted for years and years, only ever looking better with time and use. I would highly recommend their stuff, if they still do it (am overseas so don't get the magazine any more).

Lauren by Ralph Lauren... might be worth looking online at Canadian and American department stores and getting it shipped. I spent about £150 and my bag looks like £1000!!!

JillBYeats · 19/06/2015 11:32

These ones. It's pronounced Maw-la (irish for bag) and buying in sterling would work out at under £100.

I have a few Osprey bags from TK Maxx. Great value.
