work cardigans...?

Hello,

Followed advice from people here re work dresses, which are great. But I don't have any good things to wear if it's not boiling hot! am a size 12 and a short-arse, so can look quite bulky already - I have a great cardigan that I love, but it does make me look quite matronly.

I tend to try to buy branded 'good' items off ebay, so recommendations would help me having to free-shop too many items.

Any ideas of what I should wear to cover my arms in my lovely work dresses? I've generally gone for Boden/Phase 8 style silk dresses. Are cardigans the wrong thing? I walk the 4 miles to work each day, so tend to overheat and need things that can go in a bag/over my arm during the walk....

TIA

I go for cardigans, unless it's warm and dry enough to go without a coat, in which case I might wear a jacket instead. But fitted cotton cardigans in nice colours are like hens teeth this year.

Lots of cheerful coloured cardigans in oasis at the moment.
