Travelling to the Uk in August, two weeks up north and a week in London. I need some suggestions, bearing in mind the probable weather, for a 'capsule wardrobe'. Light for packing, will work for sightseeing, lunches and dinners out. Please help!! Thx

What go you normally wear in a day to day basis at home?

If it was me, I'd choose

Shorts for warm days x1
Jeans or other trousers x 2
Skirt x1 (dress up and dress down)
Dressy tops x2 (to go with skirt)
Casual tops x4
Light waterproof coat
X1 light dressy jumper or cardigan
X1 light casual jumper

Footwear - sandals, trainers, dressy shoes.

Frenchmustard's list is excellent, but you might perhaps wish to add an extra warm layer. It depends on whether you feel the cold and where you are going in the UK. Here in Scotland, for example, it's bright and sunny today but with a brisk north wind. At the moment, it's only 9C (have just checked Met Office website) www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/forecast
Also, will you be visiting cities only or venturing out into the countryside? If the latter, then you'll need appropriate footwear and waterproofs.
