Premium vs cheaper make up

Do you think premium make up is worth the money, I mean at the side of a cheaper.mid price range like Boots No 7 and not the very cheap ranges.

A few years ago I think there was a difference but not now, only difference is packaging and advertising. High street make up has really upped its game in the last couple of years.

I think it's worth spending money on foundation & concealer. I just bought the By Terry touche veloutee and it's pricey but absolutely amazing. Makes me look like I haven't been woken up at 5am by a 1yo!

Hmm, I've never bought any high end cosmetics (probably the most I've spent on one item is Benefit They're Real)

Lipstick seems to be the main area I cannot get right, it's either too glossy and patchy or too matte and drying. Tbh, I'm not a lipstick fan so I don't really look that hard.
The packaging of the higher end /higher price seems to make a huge difference though, and the application.I'm still looking for the ultimate lipstick that I can whip out of my bag and apply in public but I know it isn't to be.
Good brushes can make budget make up look good.

Yes. I've never had brilliant products from the high street. That being said some "high end" brands are crap as well - it's all about finding what works. I find midrange brands (MAC, Clinique, Estée Lauder) the best

Yes. Especially foundation.

Some items, certainly. Mascara, foundation, blusher. The difference is notable. I don't really think eyeshadow is worth paying extra. Or lip pencils or liquid eyeliner. Happy to chuck a fiver at those. Oh, and nail varnish, although not quite in the same vein. Some of the worst nail varnish I've used has cost a fortune.

I've got some estee lauder and chanel make up (lovely presents thank you thank you thank you). I used to only wear clinique. I've had a few bits of Bobbi Brown.

I'd say there is no difference in eyeshadow, blusher or eye pencils. Lip sticks I find are creamier and longer lasting.

I think avon do amazing mascara and the best blusher is rimmel cream in a tube.

Nail varnish tends to be glossier and harder wearing in the more expensive brands but Im really impressed with bourjois. Nails Inc is quite good and always cheap in tk maxx.

I like make up.

I think it depends on the product. I bought boots 17 gel nail polish last Friday for two for £6 and it's bloody amazing - it still hasn't chipped!! I also always end up buying rimmel mascaras.

But I buy premium/mid range bronzers/blushers/foundations - budget ones never seem to blend well in my experience.

I used to think nothing was as good as touché éclat. No 7 version is amazing!

Sometimes it's just the packaging. Rimmel stay matte is so good but the packaging falls apart and makes a mess of my make up bag. Fail

I bought a bobbi brown palette on a plane 4 years ago. It's in one piece and a brilliant product.

It depends what you are looking for, if you want eye shadows, in my experience there is often very little pigment in the cheaper brands. I recently went on a major hunt for matt eyeshadows, there are not many out there by any brand and after internet searches I bought a couple of palettes from superdrug because they were matt. They were so bad I dumped them, the pigment was so low that the colour would not fix at all. Luckily they were so inexepensive I could chuck them out.

I don't find much difference. If I was spending - foundation and blusher. Mascara is the same. Ditto liner and lipstick. Gloss buy super cheap and apply often. Eyeshadow I like matt urban decay

I really does vary. I have some lovely Estée Lauder make up as well as cheaper items (no7 bronzer & blusher is great in my opinion)

I recently spent a decent amount (for me) on a benefit foundation & mascara and have found them to be utter shit. Greasy & clumpy. Wish id either spent more & gone for Estée Lauder again, or given a cheaper brand a go.

I've bought Estée Lauder, Mac , Clinique and Dior foundation in the past, I've been disappointed with all of them. I use Revlon or Lily Lolo now.

Same with concealer, spent a fortune on expensive ones and Rimmel in the red tub is absolutely fantastic, I'd happily pay £20 for it but it's a fiver.

Orange - I've recently discovered a loreal matte single shadow called ombré nude. Really lovely.

Back in the days when I read fashion mags , make-up artists used to swear by Mac Spice or Bodyshop Beech lipliner pencil.

I bought the Bodyshop Beech more years than I care to remember ago. I still have it. I use it if I wear lipstick. Cost about 4 shillings and sixpence.

I am an MUA and I've found these days you can get decent makeup far cheaper than you used to - the high street has majorly upped its game.

MUA Sheer lipglosses are fab and only £1 same for their lipliners, I do prefer the mac and illamasqua ones but for a £1 you can't grumble, they last so well. Their highlighters too are a rip of the mac one but 10x better.

nyc powder works brilliantly for £3 it'll last months and mascaras are all much of a muchness unless it's the cheap cheap ones.

worth shelling out on are eyeshadows, foundation and kohl. The cheaper ones just don't last, lack pigment or oxodise too soon and one thing mac usually gets right is lipsticks and they last ages so worth the investment but for trying new colours beauty uk ones aren't a bad starting point
