Want to cover greys- what do I need?

I have dark brown hair so my ever sprouting greys are showing up. I have a few underneath, and less so on top.

But looking at pricelists for hairdressers has had me stumped. What do I ask for? Highlights, lowlights, foils, tints, t-section, semi perm, half head??!

I want the roots covered for as long a period as possible. What do I need?

I have to go for highlights, I get a t-section. It doesnt cover all the greys, but blends them in so you dont notice them. I get it down about every ten weeks.

Thanks for your reply Magical. Crikey...I am go from three visits a year to 5...and at 3 x the price!

Hmmm....maybe I will look at home dye....

T section highlights and root tint. That's what I have. Just make sure they know that you don't want to go too blonde, the aim is to disguise the grey! It really does work actually and haven't noticed the grey half as much.

OP you probably only need the highlights every other visit, with just the root tint in between to cover the grey. So reduces the cost a bit. And stops it going too blond too quickly!

Ok, that's great advice. I will make an appointment. I will look ridiculous with blonde hair (doesn't suit my skin colouring) and really don't want grey (the women with grey hair in my family have really brittle, wiry grey hair) so this is useful info, thanks all.

Yes my grey hair is really wirey too. Not to mention the fact I'm not even 30 yet so going natural isn't an option. I can't be grey this young!

Highlights will definitely help. Just keep stressing about the not too much blonde thing as hairdressers sometimes go a bit foil happy!
