Can this be used without moisturiser? DD has oily skin prone to blemishes. Thanks.

I use it without additional moisturiser, and have very oily skin that gets spotty if I use moisturiser or other sunscreens. Have had it a few weeks and it seems really good with no breakouts so far.

Thanks the fudgeling. We bought one in Boots today and when I asked the heavily painted lady whether you needed a moisturiser as well if you had oily skin she was horrified. Regarding me as a piece of shite she retorted "Of course you need moisturiser....this DDM lotion is great".
Me to DD.."Erm no it isn't ,it's horrible"
The painted one.."But you have drier skin"
Me.."I used to use it years ago and it's horrible"

I have combination skin and never use moisturiser under SPF. The painted ladies are trained to tell you that you need it as it sells more product.

Even in the evenings I only use it if I think I need it - more often nowadays as my skin has got drier as I sorted the spots out but when it was more oily I didn't bother.

Thank you Kundry. We did buy a Neutrogena moisturiser as well but will hold fire in case it can go back.

You don't necessarily need a moisturiser. Look up the "beautypedia" review. I use it on its own as my skin is a bit oily at the moment.

I am going to look now sksk. Thanks.

OK so DD has used the City block under her Bare Minerals Light but thinks she looks orange. She may have used too much. She hasn't used her normal Benefit porefessional primer. Any ideas folks?

Could be the bare minerals shade is a bit off or has oxidised on her skin?

sonata1 · 07/06/2015 20:45

She is going to try with less City Block and see if that is better

It's definitely not a moisturiser OP.

I've used it for 25 years over a moisturiser but I don't have oily skin.

recently, I swear they have made it more yellow- it used to have a pinkish tone. Now I look jaundiced until I put foundation over it which is not good.

Couldashouldawoulda · 07/06/2015 21:07

The cosmetics cop says it contains moisturising ingredients, so although it isn't billed as a moisturiser, it does both jobs. I really like it and don't wear moisturiser underneath.

daftyburd · 07/06/2015 21:14

I never used moisturiser until I was in my late 20's, early 30's. My oily skin made it unnecessary. I could have certainly got away with the city block on it's own in my teens.
