Genius trousers for pear shape

Ignore the awful pic on the website but these trousers are the answer to a pear shape's prayers for high quality, simple, flat front, washable, smart enough to dress up for work, but casual enough to wear with converse high tops trews.

Just thought I would share. Winser, I think I luffs you. I have been looking for two YEARS for trousers that didn't make me look like the back end of a bus and was seriously considering just paying a tailor to bloody make me some.

Now please make them in some more colour ways - chocolate brown maybe? Olive? Aubergine? Seriously I would buy the lot if I never had to trudge thanklessly around department stores for hours on end in trouser hell ever, ever again.

Interesting...I am 100pc pear so recognise the issue. Jeans are criminal on me - huge gaping waist, snug hips, vast backside

I have serious thunder thighs but am not tall ( just 5 ft 5) so wide pants always made me look like coco the clown. I can just about get away with Next straight leg jeans but they aren't particularly great. Worth a try I would say - I think John Lewis stock them if you have one near you.Or order by post and return if not fab. But size up - I am 12/14 and the 14s are ideal.

Put it this way - I have been asked 5 times if I have started hitting the gym since I started wearing them (er no...) But they clearly work - and I can throw them in the washing machine. Yay!

Evans 'pear shape' jeans are a god send for me. No gaping waist and big enough on my hips.

Unfortunately JL doesn't have them in size 18, which is a pity because I'm just in the middle of doing an online order with them for otther things.

They are expensive - more than I would ordinarily spend. But so far fitting and washing beautifully. Will watch carefully for sale.

Does that fabric go baggy at the knees at all?

Not so far but have only been thru a couple of washes so far

Thanks OP, I'm off to JL Oxford St tomorrow with a bunch of vouchers so I'll give it a try.

I found the perfect pair of wool work trousers a few years ago in the Ghost sale, bought them in 2 colours and wore them to death, but many many drycleanings later the Lycra has started to escape around the waistband and it looks like I've got the world's worst case of threadworms.

In the picture they look very wide leg, almost flare...am I missing something?

Let me know how you get on Yes. The trews (on me as a size 14) are in between a straight leg and a wide leg. I am 5 ft 5 and am way too short to look good in a wide leg plus I always wear flats - nice boots/Vans/Superga metallics etc. I agree on the skinny model they look like a wide leg but on normal mortals they aren't. I wouldn't have tried them on either but for a v helpful shop assistant who pointed them out to me!

These are exactly the trousers I have been looking for for work - flared and drapey with NO POCKETS (pockets are the scourge of the pear shaped, imo).

I have a pair the same shape, but they're 12 years old. Unfortunately, the Winser ones seem to come only in a 31" leg, and I need 33". Does anyone know of similar trousers that come in a tall fitting?

Doesn't it seem bizarre to you that a. most British women are pear shaped and yet b. most trousers have a zip at the front, pockets and other fussy bits on the hip area that look dreadful on a pear shape. You are missing your market manufacturers!

Well I tried them on, and I totally see your point OP, but they just didn't quite work for my specific proportions - the waist was a bit too baggy on the size 12 and the hips were a lot too tight on the size 10s. But they were really good quality and a basically flattering shape and not nearly as flared as they look on the model so I'd absolutely recommend anyone else giving them a go, because they might work brilliantly for you.

I also tried on this dress which was insanely flattering but unfortunately required more substantial boobage than I possess to work. If it had been 40 quid rather than 150 quid then I'd have bought it as an occasion frock and worn my boob job bra with it, but for that money I'd want something I can wear week in week out at work. But highly recommended to anyone with actual norks.

I'm going to go back another time and try absolutely everything in their range to see if anything works for my specific shape, because they are genuinely good schmutter.

And yes I agree with the OP that they are on the small side or alternatively not vanity sized - so I need my retro size 12 not my Hobbs size 10 or my M&S size 8 .

Ah sorry they were not right for you Yes. As it happens, I tried that dress too which was indeed v flattering (and am ample of boobage at 30G). But just a teeny bit too low cut so that if someone was standing sideways next to me they would get a clear view of bra and boob. Not so professional. If it had been a bit cheaper I would just have put a couple of stitches or a popper there - but for £150, nah. But yeah, great brand - will keep watching it!

I think that 30D is probably the ideal size for that frock, half way between the two of us.

I wish they would stop doing everything in black/ white/navy, cool based pastels and brights too. I need earthy autumnals!
