Fascinators for weddings?

Do people still wear fascinators to weddings? I'm going to one in two weeks and although I don't know exactly what dress I'll be wearing yet (currently bidding/watching various ones on eBay) I do know that whatever dress I wear it needs to match a certain pair of flat nude sparkly sandals and I was wondering about a nude fascinator? So my questions are: 1. Fascinator or not (and if not, what else? I am fairly crap at doing my hair otherwise and it will just be in a long straight bob with a fringe) and if yes to 1: 2) is matching the fascinator to my shoes the wrong way to go and should I wait until I have finalised the dress and then highlight a colour from the dress?

I'd go with a hat or nothing, I'm not a huge fan of fascinators.

Or what about a comb, you can get some beautiful 1920s style ones and just sweep one side of your hair back?

I like fascinators! However, if you want an alternative- I'm going to a wedding next Saturday and an wearing a 'grown up' Alice band. Accessorize have some nice ones. If not, maybe a nice big flower to pin in your hair?

I'd go with a sparkly clip or similar, I don't like fascinators at all.

I don't like fascinators. They always look a bit try too hard.
And put me in mind of Cinderella's Ugly Sisters.

You can't beat a hat. Failing that, a grownup Alice band or splarly clip sounds nice.

Right well this is the dress I've won on eBay and hope fits! Not sure I can carry off an Alice band but I might look for a big flower hair clip. I used to have a lovely one but I think I got rid as couldn't see me using it again, grrrr...

Nice dress, I would say definitely not a fascinator style of dress though. What shoes are you wearing?

They do, yes.
