What's the difference between hot cloth cleansing and using a flannel to wash your face?

I like the sound of it but it seems expensive and I cant see what the difference is.

I really really don't know. Hot cloth sounds better than flannel and allows companies to sell you bits of muslin at an inflated price? Grin

Leviticus · 31/05/2015 08:05

Not a lot.

Use a decent blob of creamy cleanser, balm or an oil if you prefer. Massage in. Flannel off. Repeat if you started with make up on or if you just want to double cleanse. Some people use a different cleanser for the 2nd go but I don't.

Flannels are far superior to muslins IMO.

That's what I thought Kundry but thought there must be more to it for guardian etc to be singing its praises!

Leviticus - So I think I have a cleanser from a bannatynes spa day somewhere, would that do? Put it on and then wash off with a hot flannel?

That's what I do.
Put on cleanser. Put a hot flannel over my face for 30 seconds. Wash off cleanser. Then put cold flannel over my face for 30 seconds (if I can bear it)

The muslin clothes that come with these cleansers are rubbish IME.

Flannels are better than muslin cloths, IMO

Massage in cleanser, wipe off with warm flannel or muslin, repeat if you are wearing makeup or sunscreen. No need to buy special muslins, I have them because they came free with products but any flannel will do. New flannel every day, and that's it.

Leviticus · 31/05/2015 10:08

Yes exactly that. Any non foaming cleanser is fine. I use plain aqueous cream sometimes.

Grumpyoldbiddy · 01/06/2015 12:45

Thank you all, will do it tonight and see how it goes!

Flannels are harsher, even soft good quality ones are more abrasive than any 'flat' fabric. When I started hot cloth cleansing I gave it up as was convinced my skin was too sensitive. It wasn't, it was because I was using a flannel. I use a couple of muslins now, or big men's cotton handkerchiefs.
