Is this true about Elle Macpherson Intimates?

I love Elle Macpherson underwear. I love her designs, hers is one of the few brands that do my size, yet they are all lovely with nice, feminine thin straps. Whenever I feel that I need a boost (no pun intended!) I treat myself to a new set.

However, I just tried to order some EMI underwear on Figleaves and the brand has disappeared!!! So I did a search and some sites are saying that Elle Macpherson Intimates has been re-branded as Heidi Klum Intimates! This is not true, surely? They were Elle's own designs!

Please can somebody tell me what's going on Confused.

Yes it's true, heartbreaking I know Wink

They've just got a new deal, with a new face/name

QforCucumber · 29/05/2015 13:46

TK Maxx still sell the Elle branded ones though

retrocutie · 29/05/2015 13:47

retrocutie · 29/05/2015 13:53

If Elle is a Mumsnetter and reading this, please come and tell us what's going on. I am not happy about this. Not happy at all Angry Angry Angry.

I don't think they were her own designs. She might have had a say over colours etc. but underwear design is a pretty specialist job. With these celeb endorsements they'll offer opinions and ideas but their don't actually design it. Like Kate Moss for Topshop- she famously picked her favourite items from her wardrobe and Topshop tweaked them and made them into a mass market product.

More than likely her contract has ended and the parent company has decided to pick a new 'face'. Heidi Klum has a bigger profile and has a younger fan base due to her time on Project Runway. The designs will probably stay much the same with the same sizes etc, unless sales of these items suggest they should contract the range of sizes or whatever.

Thanks TheCraicDealer for the explanation. I know I'm a bit naive, but I really thought she designed them Blush.

I am a bit sad though, as I looked at the Heidi Klum range and it isn't nearly as vast or as nice as the Elle Macpherson range. There is hardly anything in my size Sad.

I'm a fan of E MacP underwear as well, so was very disappointed to find this out too. What I don't understand though, is that there must still be a stock of unsold items rolling around somewhere - it all seemed to vanish out of the shops and off websites pretty quick - so I would have expected a lot of reduced price stuff to be available. But I can't seem to find anything other than the odd pair of something that doesn't fit. Very strange.

Elle MacPherson was contracted to Bendon (a NZ underwear company) to put her face (and body) to a range. Now that contract has ended, and Bendon have hired Heidi Klum instead.

CloserToFiftyThanTwenty · 30/05/2015 03:04

Bring back Elle!

ZacharyQuack · 30/05/2015 03:56

Well Elle didn't actually design the range, so perhaps her absence won't make much difference Confused

retrocutie · 30/05/2015 04:55

I don't like the new Heidi Klum range Angry. And as a PP said, what happened to all the old stock?

I bought some Heidi Klum bras just after they came out, and they were EM ones with the label taken out and a new one stitched in. They're all the same designs, nothing's changed but the name.

CuttedUpPear · 30/05/2015 05:22

Sorry but I am having a slight guffaw at the thought that anyone thinks that any of these sleb types actually design their own 'designs'. Grin

imip · 30/05/2015 06:35

Yes, I've noticed this also. I used to love em bras, I'm a fan of bendon bras also, but after 10 years where I had 5 dc and breastfeeding, I came back to buy a 'normal' bra and was gutted the hk don't suit my breasts!

I've hanged to find 2 good triumph bras and one good bendon bra. Knickers now seem to only come with a lacy arse - I'm bloody well try to hide mine, not draw attention to it!

Housewife2010 · 31/05/2015 20:47

Ive just noticed some reduced items on the House of Fraser site.

retrocutie · 01/06/2015 14:40

Oooh, really Housewife2010? Thanks, I'm off to have a look...

TK Maxx sell a range called The Body by Elle MacPherson, which I assumed was her slightly cheaper diffusion line. BrandAlley occasionally have Elle sales too, so it’s worth signing up with them.

Cloclomomo · 23/09/2016 19:59

She's back! "Elle MacPherson Body" on Net a Porter!
