Got my eyebrows done
Had my hair cut and coloured
Trying to lose some weight (still a lot to go).

What else do I need to do to look polished. Not glam, just presentable.

I really need a school run wardrobe that is not white stuff tunic, jeans & converse.

A nice manicure, maybe?
A really good exfoliator for the face and another for the body. (Recommending MAC Volcanic Ash Exfoliator for the face and Dead Sea Spa Magik for the bodsSmile)

As it's summer, some easy to throw on dresses with cute sandals? And definitely a mani pedi.

tutorproof · 28/05/2015 23:12

I'm 5'7 and a size 16. Massive arse.

I love dresses but sandals scare me as I have thick ankles and size 8 feet. I also need to be able to walk to school in them.

My ears are pierced but I never wear earrings. Maybe I should.

My nails are a disgrace.

I've just bought myself some tinted moisturiser and a new mascara!

What's BB cream?

OP posts:
Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 28/05/2015 23:41

Well you need a manicure or false nails. You could get the white tips which would save time.
Size 16 is a lovely figure there are lots of shops you can go to

BB cream is like foundation but a bit more subtle and natural looking.
It gives 24 hydration
Evens your skin tone
Gives a healthy glow
Blurs imperfections
Contains uv protection factor 15
It's advertised by Holly Willoughby. I'm surprised you've not seen it.
I got mine from Superdrug for £4.50

I listen to radio 4 a lot Grin

Will investigate.

I struggle with trousers & tops so tend to favour dresses. However I always wear the same things and I'm sure people think I only have 3 (which is probably true).

Top lengths are tricky as my hips and bum are large. I never seem to get the trouser cut & top length right.

straight trousers and shorter tops make me feel huge.

Cleanser - cream or balm
Flannels - for face
Exfoliating toner
Serum
Skin oil for night time
Clothes - have you tried Lagenlook?

Smooshface · 29/05/2015 08:51

Sainsbury do lots of sweet neat dresses and have some great flats in.
Straightners are great for quick very-neat look.
blazer is good with jeans for neatening up
Nice smelling hand cream is good to whack on just before pickup so you smell nice and have soft hands without trying too hard!
scarves and belts help an outfit look put together

I need to do all this!

tutorproof · 29/05/2015 10:52

I think a blazer might be the answer. I do have one at the moment but it's a size too small and about 8 years old Smile

OP posts:

Is Navy the acceptable choice?

OP posts:
UmiSays · 29/05/2015 11:45

Nice blazer or cardi over a top rather tun ye olde White Stuff/Fat Face tunic - instantly makes the jeans and Converse combo look a bit better.

Get a half-stylish waterproof jacket or trench for raiy days that you can throw on and not feel like crap. I got a nice navy mac-cum-trench in Zara recently.

Scarves and bags and a few decent bits of jewellery?

Deffo nails. Mani/pedi when you can, or do it at home.

pinkfrocks · 29/05/2015 11:57

No need to spend a fortune on manicures or peds. I try to do mine once a week - clip nails, file and apply a coat of pale polish you can barely see- like Mavala shades though Rimmel are good too.

Deffo use make up- even as others have said- mascara, tinted moisturiser or foundation, creamy blusher and lippie.

Earrings are good too.

tutorproof · 29/05/2015 21:35

Realised today that my waterproof coat is 15 years old! It was a raincoat from Boden but, style wise, it has not worn well ??

I know it's white stuff but what about this?

blazer

OP posts:
Smooshface · 02/06/2015 13:40

That blazer is lovely, got to love a patterned lining :)

Smooshface · 02/06/2015 13:41

And yes, if you have pierced ears just get some earrings that you can wear all the time that are neat. I quite like sparkly jewelled studs at the moment, I went without earrings for ages too.

AuntOlive · 02/06/2015 13:52

Deffo earrings. Get some pearl studs (not real ones unless you want to!)

Plus: sunglasses and blusher

Rinkydinkypink · 02/06/2015 18:32

I'm with you op! I am attempting to reclaim myself as well.

So far I'm eating properly. I've got weight to loose. I'm dying hair/getting it cut. I'm attempting to do my own mani pedi but time is tricky to find.

I'm trying to moisturise more often, wear make up most days, I've got the jewellery it's just the time to match it all before running out the door.
