Where do you get your glasses?

Have just worked out I have had my current frames for about 7 years. Have lasted well but looking a bit tired now and could do with a change, especially as I now have to wear them every day. So where do you get your glasses from? Not sure I want to go online. Where on the high street offers designer frames at a reasonable price? I read about Asda opticians on a previous thread- any good or are their lenses rubbish? One of my eyes is a lot worse than the other so don't want super thick lens on one side.

I like Specsavers. Large selection of designer frames and their BOGOF deals mean you can get a free pair of sunglasses.

Tesco opticians have great choice and you can use club card vouchers if you have any- boost if you can.

Specsavers.
You can get prescription sunnies as the second free pair.
And the thin lenses are good.

Thanks for the quick replies. Will take a look at Tesco (not my nearest supermarket though). Just looked on spec savers & seen some pairs that I like- although never can tell til you try them on. BOGOF deal sounds good as could do with some prescription sunglasses (currently making do with squinting as I drive).

I have bought my last few pairs from London Retro at Glasses Direct, using the prescription from my own optician. You can do "home trials" with as many pairs of frames as you want, the service is super-fast, and they usually have discount codes on. My eyes are quite bad (about -5 in each eye) and I paid for the very thin lenses on the first pair I ordered but to be honest the standard package is just as good. (I am mainly a contact lens wearer though.) My own optician is happy to fit the frames as I get my lenses from them on a monthly direct debit.

I have heard good things about Tesco too.. I had a bad experience with Specsavers not so long ago, they messed up the prescription, and the glasses never fit properly (despite numerous attempts to "adjust" them). Might just be my local (very busy) shop

I've been using Specsavers for years, very good service and always have good offers on. You have to pay a wee bit extra for thinner lenses etc if you have a strong prescription and for anti glare coating but still very reasonable.

Boots.
I get my contacts from them too and get half price glasses.
I tried the online glasses thing, but I'm a fussy cow and hated all of them.

I use a local, independent optician. They have a great selection but will also source frames for me (with no obligation to buy) if I see something I like online. I may be wrong but I doubt whether a chain would do that for you.

It does cost a bit more as they can't compete with the kind of offers you get at Specsavers etc but I wear my glasses every single waking moment so I think it's worth it.

My last couple of pairs were Face a Face and Oliver Peoples.

Agree with Floisme, I go to an independent optician, better selection of frames and don't feel like I'm on a conveyor belt in high turnover chains.

I got my last pair from Bailey Nelson.

FCUK in my local independent opticians

I get mine at Specsavers in the teen section (little head) - Red or Dead, usually. I also have prescription sunglasses from there, but I didn't get them on 2 for 1.

MamaLazarou · 27/05/2015 19:38

I got mine from David Clulow. I swear, i just walked in and the sales assitant handed me the perfect pair. Amazing!
