What to wear to work barbecue?

I'm hoping someone can help! I live in skinny jeans/wellies/jumpers, don't generally wear make-up/spend time on appearance. The barbecue is likely to be mainly executives. I'm confident dressing for more formal occasions, but struggling with this. Any ideas? I'm tall/slim/brunette/40ish and in Scotland, so it's likely to be cold!

What about tweaking what you already like to wear so you feel confident. Maybe a nice pair of skinny jeans, pretty top and blazer with some pumps?

I'd go skinny jeans, brogues (in case of rain/mud!) and nice top, with a leather jacket which could be kept on if it's chilly or discarded if it's warm. My experience of corporate barbecue type things is men in chinos and polo shirts and women mainly in jeans but some shivering around in summer dresses. I am also in Scotland.

Make the top patterned, to disguise tomato ketchup spillages. I am the voice of bitter experience. Jeans will be fine; barbecues are casual.

Thanks for the advice, I was hoping I would get away with jeans/nice top, it's not exactly tropical here and I hate being cold! P.s. I don't wear my wellies as a fashion statement/to John Lewis, I'm a country girl doing muddy stuff Grin
