Ugh.. I am crap at this.. I live happily in my uniform of jeans, jumpers and converse day in, day out.. I have a creative job, so go to work in them, I don't go out anywhere particularly glam as we live on a farm, and I haven't been to a wedding in YEARS!
I went to Bluewater today and can announce I am a broken woman! but I did at least manage to buy a dress..
this one..

but please help.. what shall I wear with it?
not a huge budget, but will spend if I have to.. and the wedding is on the 6th.. thank you kindly :)

gingerbreadmam · 25/05/2015 20:25

chunky pastel sandals

grey sandals

ahh theres loads on asos but my phone is being stupid.

Ingles2 · 25/05/2015 20:35

Thanks gingerbreadmam .. I was thinking something like that.. maybe nude? I don't like my feet much, so can't be too strappy...
Would these look odd do you think?

nah think theyd be fine with a matching clutch?

i like to colour match and have a bit of a thing about it so if personally pick a colour out of the dress if i could. that is a weird trait of mine tho haha!

gingerbreadmam · 25/05/2015 20:57

might be too high / pricey but these are nice

river island

Ingles2 · 25/05/2015 21:01

Not too pricey, but definitely too high! ?? I tried some shoes on in M&S today and couldn't stand up at all! I am rubbish! Any thoughts on head? I don't mind a fascinator and the dress looks very plain.. I'm a little worried people won't think I've made an effort iyswim

I'm the opposite and don't like to be matchy, and think that dress could take pretty much any solid bright colour for shoes and bag. Given that live in Converse, and on a farm, I'm assuming you don't wander around in high heels much. And as you don't like your feet too much, how about these slingbacks from Clarks? With this fun red & pink bag from Dune?

But you could do any bright colour really.

ChinUpChestOut · 25/05/2015 21:04

If I had that pink and red bag, I'd choose a little hot pink fascinator like this or this from John Lewis.

A couple of bright splashes of colour on a neutral dress. You like?

Ingles2 · 25/05/2015 21:14

Hi chinup ?? ok.. I could do some pink maybe.. The thought makes me feel a little panicky, I don't like to stand out too much.. But I could probably get away with it, I have very dark hair and am pale..??
It would be too hard to colour match the dress I think.. It's duck egg but not.. More sage

i dont think people will think that the dress is lovely and pastels are very in at the mo.

if you like a bit of colour the other suggestions are lovely.

Ingles2 · 25/05/2015 21:19

Are they? Yay! I got something right! Thanks gingerbreadmam Smile

OP posts:
gingerbreadmam · 25/05/2015 21:22

yup sure are. marksys have some lovely mid heel shoes on the site could be worth a look.

if pinks a bit bright how about purple?

ChinUpChestOut · 25/05/2015 21:27

You could always go navy, if you don't want to go bright. There's these navy shoes from Clarks, or these super elegant navy suede slingbacks from LK Bennett (also in orange suede).

And this page from John Lewis has a lovely range of navy fascinators.

My advice would be to go bright - pink, red, orange - it's a wedding after all, and those are lovely accent colours for an early summer wedding. You won't stand out so much, as just look chic, and fun. And people will think you look so well put together you must be in a creative type job. And not dressed by Mumsnet. Oh no. Not at all.

Ingles2 · 25/05/2015 21:27

Yes.. Purple could be good.. I was just hunting through debenhams.. I've just realised I can't make a decision to save my life! Grin

Ingles2 · 25/05/2015 21:33

Haha yes chinup.. I want to look chic and stylish .. But am happy to admit I'm dressed by Mumsnet Grin
I love those Clarks t bar shoes.. I like the nude colour but keep coming back to pink.. Not seen any pink shoes I like yet though

its ok i am massively struggling for an outifit for a wedding saturday where i will be 20wks pregnant. it is proving hard!

Ingles2 · 25/05/2015 21:42

Do you like this dress? It's got a fabulous flattering ruffle bit across the tummy if your bump isn't too big? What have you been looking at?

OP posts:
gingerbreadmam · 25/05/2015 21:45

ahh im on computer so can only see links! my bump is huge and as im a bigger person already i quite like to acentuate the bump so its obvious im pregnant iyswim?

Ingles2 · 25/05/2015 21:55

Well If you can't flaunt your tummy when you're pregnant when can you! Grin have you narrowed down the choices?

ive already had and returned 3 asos dresses. i now have another 3 or 4 in my bag to panic order tomo. i like ones that come past my knee and give a little bit of arm or shoulder coverage.

gingerbreadmam · 25/05/2015 22:03

navy pencil

fuschia twist

one shoulder

polka dot

Ingles2 · 25/05/2015 22:14

Ooo nice! I love the red one shouldered dress.. The colour is gorgeous! I think I'm going to just mass order as well

OP posts:
gingerbreadmam · 25/05/2015 22:18

yes thats probs my fave except the colour is a bit wintery for a summer wedding. whatever i get needs to do for another one 4 july so hoping still fits then.

my dp is wearing navy so a navy one would compliment his outfit.
