I go to a lot of country shows. My days of being 20 skinny and looking young and trendy are behind me I think. But today I think I morphed into my mum - I'm only 34, how did I end up going out in a nice pair of blue trousers, a collared shirt with a v neck jumper and a 'nice' pair of Russell and Bromley tan loafer type things.

2 questions for the stylish people:

  1. what can I do for spring smart foot wear. Today was too hot for the dubarrys, too cold for the sandals.
  2. any ideas how I can avoid looking like my mum? I just don't know how to do country stylish for my age?!

I have to be fairly smart at these things - no jeans, think smart members club type of attire.

I'm not sure how to do 'country' well without looking old, so to speak. What about looking on Pinterest for ideas?
I think a lot might have to do with type of trouser leg and shoe. What about some nice skinny/slim leg cigarette trousers from Warehouse? Then maybe some funky light brogues? A soft flowy shirt rather than stiff collared. And maybe lose the v-neck sweater. Interesting to see what others think!

That's it Brookville - it's hard to do! I'm shopping tomorrow so will have w look in warehouse - I think you're right it is to do with style of trouser. Today's were more 'meet the accountant on the farm office' than 'young and trendy country mum'

Maybe look at Joules clothing for inspiration. Some of the models on there are young but you will need to choose selectively.

I was at a village fayre today. In very country country sunnoundings. I wore black skinnies, layer white and grey vests, denim shirt (buttoned up to boobs, sleeves rolled up), leopard scarf and tan boat shoes. And pearls.

My g-ma said I looked lovely!
